Assistant Kitchen/Prepared Foods Manager

McKinnon's is looking for a hands-on Assistant Kitchen / Prepared Foods Manager to help lead our Portsmouth kitchen. This person will work alongside the Kitchen Manager to prepare fresh, appealing food, guide the team through daily production, and keep the department running smoothly. We're looking for someone who takes pride in the food they make and leads by example during a busy shift.

  Help plan daily production and assign prep work to keep prepared foods stocked and ready for customers.

  Prepare meals, sides, soups, and other kitchen items while maintaining consistent recipes, portions, quality, and presentation.

  Train and support kitchen associates, step in where needed, and help maintain an efficient, team-oriented workplace.

  Assist with ordering, inventory, product rotation, and controlling waste and food costs.

• →

  Monitor food temperatures and ensure the kitchen follows food safety, sanitation, and cleaning procedures.

  Help develop new items and improve existing offerings based on customer demand.

  Provide friendly customer service and help resolve concerns promptly.

• →

  Help oversee the department when the Kitchen Manager is away.

• At least 2 years of kitchen management or supervisory experience.

• Experience in prepared foods, grocery, catering, or a restaurant kitchen.

• Strong cooking skills and the ability to organize people and production in a busy environment.

• Knowledge of safe food handling practices; ServSafe certification is preferred.

• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays.

• Ability to stand and walk throughout a shift and lift up to 50 pounds.
