Introduction

The Maryland Department\r\nof Labor, Division of Unemployment Insurance is seeking a�qualified and motivated\r\nindividual for the full-time, permanent position of UI Professional\r\nIV. This recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies\r\nwithin the Division. An eligible list of candidates will be maintained for one\r\nyear after the announcement’s closing date.�\r\nThis position is\r\nresponsible for ensuring integrity and compliance with Maryland’s Unemployment Insurance\r\n(UI) laws by ensuring accurate and timely collection of data to support benefit\r\naccuracy, determinations, and the integrity and sustainability of the UI\r\nsystem.�\r\nWe are committed to\r\nbuilding a diverse and inclusive workforce. Main Purpose of Job

The purpose of this position is to assist in executing the mission of the Department of Labor and achieving the agency's goals. The Unemployment Insurance Professional IV completes\r\nduties that audit randomly selected unemployment in which benefits have been paid and denied in order to detect the source and reason for improper payments or to determine if a decision to deny benefits adjudicated properly. The position also works collaborative with various Division of Unemployment units and staff to facilitate in efforts to detect, prevent and deter improper payments. This position will conduct Tax Performance System (TPS) and Data Validation (DV) the review activities mandated by the US Department of Labor.

POSITION DUTIES

\r\n\r\n Use interviewing and investigation\r\n techniques to conduct thorough telephone fact�finding interviews on randomly\r\n selected cases that include elements for finance,�correctness of adjudication,\r\n and compliance with agency policy, and US Department of�Labor mandates.\r\n Evaluate accuracy and\r\n timeliness of state UI tax operations (such as employer registration,�reporting, collections, and benefit charging).� � � � � � � �\r\n Draw conclusions from computed measures, system reviews and\r\n acceptance sample findings to make timely and quality determinations.\r\n Verify the accuracy of the reported counts and dollar amounts\r\n truly reflect what is in the state’s underlying records.\r\n �Submit results of reviews to USDOL automated software or other\r\n method required.\r\n\r\n\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:�Seven years of experience in a public/or private agency rendering and/or determining eligibility for a Human Service Program, or an insurance claims processing and fraud investigations program.��OR Seven years of experience in administrative staff or professional staff work.\r\nNotes:\r\n1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of experience in a public/or private agency rendering and/or determining eligibility for a Human Service Program or an insurance claims processing and fraud investigations program,�OR�three years of experience in administrative staff or professional staff work for the required experience.\r\n2.�Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 credit hours on a year-for-year basis for the required general experience.\r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

\r\nPreference will be given to applicants who\r\npossess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and\r\nspecific information on your application regarding your qualifications.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nDetail-oriented and effective\r\norganizational skills experience.�\r\nExperience working in a\r\nfast-paced, deadline-driven environment.\r\nStrong verbal and writing\r\nskills experience.\r\nTwo (2) years of BEACON 2.0\r\nfamiliarity and UI adjudication experience.\r\nExperience with Microsoft Office an other Office applications.\r\nExperience conducting one-on-one interviews to gather and verify information.\r\n\r\n

Personnel employed in this classification will\r\nhave access to federal tax information and must undergo a state and FBI\r\ncriminal background check as a condition of employment.�\r\nAll candidates are subject to a\r\nbackground check against files maintained by the Division of Unemployment\r\nInsurance (MD Labor/DUI) to determine whether any monies are owed to MD Labor/DUI\r\nas a result of unemployment insurance overpayment/fraud. Any unpaid debt may\r\nhave an impact on whether or not a candidate is offered employment.\r\n
