Introduction
The Maryland\r\nDepartment of Labor, (MD Labor), Division of Unemployment Insurance is accepting applications\r\nfrom qualified candidates for the position of UI Professional V Benefits-Supervisor. Main Purpose of Job
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB: THE MAIN PURPOSES OF THIS POSITION ARE TO ASSIST BPC DIRECTOR IN DEVELOPING, PLANNING, COORDINATING AND MANAGING THE DAILY OPERATIONS WITHIN THE BENEFITS PAYMENT CONTROL UNIT (INVESTIGATIONS AND OVERPAYMENT AND RECOVERIES SECTIONS) FOR THE DIVISION OF UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE (DUI) IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING \r\nU.S. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR (USDOL); WILL DIRECTLY LEAD BPC SUPERVISORS; ASSIST IN CREATING POLICIES, PROCEDURES, AND ESTABLISH INTERNAL CONTROLS THAT EFFECTIVELY PROTECT THE INTEGRITY AND SECURITY OF UI PROGRAM STAFF, PROGRAM OPERATIONS AND SYSTEMS, UI FUNDS, UI DATA AND OTHER STATE ASSETS; TO REDUCE THE POSSIBILITY OF INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL FRAUD BY MINIMIZING PROGRAM VULNERABILITIES AND FAULTY PROCEDURES; AND TO HELP PREVENT IDENTITY THEFT.\r\n
POSITION DUTIES
\r\n Coordinate, review, and lead the effort and work\r\n of a unit comprised of UI Professionals/Associates responsible for taking\r\n and processing claims, answering claimant questions, conducting\r\n fact-finding interviews and completing non-monetary determinations in\r\n accordance with established guidelines.�\r\n �Provide feedback, guidance, and training to UI\r\n Professionals/Associates in current, complex departmental policies,\r\n procedures, and programs to ensure all internal and external goals are\r\n met; ensure a satisfactory level of efficiency.�\r\n Contributes to the compilation of metrics\r\n information to report to leadership.�\r\n May ensure that lower-level staff members are\r\n reviewing and taking appropriate action on work items generated through\r\n the system. Assist in training current and new staff on Beacon\r\n processes & procedures.�\r\n Coach and train employees to attain desired\r\n levels of performance.�\r\n Monitor workload reports to ensure timely\r\n payment of benefits.\r\n Provide quality customer service and education\r\n to claimants, vendors, and employers.�\r\n Train new employees in departmental policies,\r\n procedures and programs.� Provide quality customer service. Screen,\r\n interview and select UI staff in conjunction with the Director.\r\n Compile and main legible, accurate records documenting the progress of individual staff and conduct and complete the evaluations of lower-level UI Professionals/Associates, utilizing the performance planning and evaluation.\r\n\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Units will select those candidates most closely demonstrating the\r\nqualifications for interview.�\r\nExperience: Eight years\r\nof experience in a public/or private agency rendering and/or determining\r\neligibility for a Human Service Program, or an insurance claims processing and\r\nfraud investigations program OR four years of experience in administrative staff\r\nor professional staff work and an additional four years of experience in a\r\npublic/or private agency rendering and/or determining eligibility for a Human\r\nService Program, or an insurance claims processing and fraud investigations\r\nprogram .\r\nNotes:\r\n1. Candidates may\r\nsubstitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or\r\nuniversity and four years of experience in a public/or private agency rendering\r\nand/or determining eligibility for a Human Service Program, or an insurance claims\r\nprocessing and fraud investigations program OR four years of experience in\r\nadministrative staff or professional staff work for the required experience.\r\n\r\n\r\n2. Candidates may\r\nsubstitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or\r\nuniversity at the rate of 30 credit hours on a year-for-year basis for the\r\nrequired general experience.\r\n

Preference will be given to applicants who\r\npossess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and\r\nspecific information on your application regarding your qualifications.\r\n(2) Two years of experience planning, coordinating,\r\nsupervising, or evaluating the work of professional and/or support staff.\r\nExperience preparing reports, correspondence, or\r\nprogram-related documentation.\r\nExperience analyzing facts, evidence, or program\r\ninformation to make recommendations or determinations.�\r\n

Personnel employed in this classification will\r\nhave access to federal tax information and must undergo a state and FBI\r\ncriminal background check as a condition of employment.�\r\nAll candidates are subject to a\r\nbackground check against files maintained by the Division of Unemployment\r\nInsurance (MD Labor/DUI) to determine whether any monies are owed to MD Labor/DUI\r\nas a result of unemployment insurance overpayment/fraud. Any unpaid debt may\r\nhave an impact on whether or not a candidate is offered employment.\r\n
