FTTH Cable Installer

Are you ready to connect Malta’s future? Melita, Malta’s leading telecommunications provider, is looking for dedicated FTTH Cable Installers to join our expanding field operations team.

We are seeking hands-on professionals to carry out new Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) installations across our expanding network. From running and splicing fibre optic cable to activating service in a customer’s home, your work will directly with Maltese households.

  New Installations: Perform new installation, termination and fusion splicing of Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) cables, both externally (aerial/underground) and at customer premises.

  Equipment Configuration: Setup and activation of equipment (ONTs, modems, WiFi pods, STBs) for new customer connections.

• →

  Testing & Compliance: Utilise OTDR and power meters to verify optical light levels and service speeds on every new installation, ensuring all work meets Melita’s quality standards.

  Safety & Documentation: Work safely at heights using ladders and bucket trucks, and in various weather conditions, maintaining accurate digital records of new installations directly on your tablet.

  Technician-level qualification or equivalent hands-on experience.

• →

  Proven experience as an FTTH Installer (minimum 1+ years preferred).

  A valid driving licence (Category B mandatory; Category C an advantage).

• →

  Willingness and ability to work at heights, including from ladders and bucket trucks, and in various weather conditions.

  Basic understanding of fibre optics is an advantage, but full training is provided for candidates with strong technical aptitude and a willingness to learn.

  Comfort using hand and power tools (drills, crimpers, cutting tools) – training provided on specialised equipment.

  Willingness to learn fusion splicing, OTDR testing and GPON technology – on-the-job training available.

• →

  Ability to read basic network maps and installation diagrams – training provided.

• →

  Comfortable using an Android tablet (navigating apps, entering data, receiving job notifications, capturing digital customer signatures).

• →

  A dedicated team player with a customer-first mindset and strong problem-solving skills, able to work independently in the field as well as part of a team.

  Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
