Position Summary

The Senior Vice President, Supply Chain provides system-wide strategic direction and senior leadership for Supply Chain operations. This role partners with senior leadership and management across MemorialCare Health System to develop, implement, and sustain strategic and operational initiatives that improve service, quality, financial performance, standardization, and value across areas of responsibility.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job:

• Formulate and recommend the strategic direction for MemorialCare Shared Services Supply Chain functions and operations, aligning priorities with system goals, campus needs, financial performance, and service expectations.
• Provide leadership for Supply Chain operations to ensure goals and objectives are met, initiative project plans are implemented successfully, and operational performance is sustained across the system.
• Monitor total Supply Chain operational and financial performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend actions that support system financial outcomes, targets, efficiency, financial viability, and financial integrity.
• Determine and evolve the organizational structure needed to support consolidation and systemization of Supply Chain across all entities, improving quality, efficiency, service levels, fulfillment, financial integrity, cost savings, and economies of scale.

·       Define, develop, deploy, and interpret system-level policies within areas of responsibility, including vendor business practices, to support MemorialCare principles, system integration, organizational compliance, agreement compliance, and financial integrity.

·       Deploy supply chain, value analysis and lean process improvement principles and practices as the core management strategy of MemorialCare Supply Chain leadership and teams.

Operations:

• Provide system-wide direction and leadership for the Supply Chain division and departments. Through matrix relationships, ensure that system service initiatives are integrated and coordinated into operational components.
• Develop and implement mechanisms to monitor and track quality, financial, service, and operational performance across the Supply Chain division.

·       In areas of responsibility, lead standardization, systemization and performance improvement initiatives across the system. 

·       Work with site leadership to develop and manage capital and operational budgets for Supply Chain. 

·       Promote effective communication among leadership teams, committee structures, external business associates, suppliers, service providers, and divisions.

• Build and sustain relationships with physicians by supporting appropriate forums and involving them in decision-making processes focused on achieving system and campus objectives.
• Build and sustain strategic, value-driven relationships with key suppliers and service providers to ensure business relationship integrity, business continuity, and value.

·       Accountable for leadership development and effectiveness in areas of responsibility.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:

Twelve years of progressive experience in healthcare service line or equivalent operations, and healthcare supply chain leadership integrated delivery network setting. Knowledge and understanding of integrated delivery network Supply Chain, Purchased Services, Contracting, Pharmacy, business development and project management skills required.

Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Title 22, CDPH, JCAHO, and other relevant regulatory standards. Organizational dynamics, human resources, progressive physician relations, strategic planning, operations, Lean improvement methods and progressive development, prudent and ethical purchasing and contracting practices.  

Education/Licensure/Certification:

BS or BA degree in business or related science

MBA, MHA or related science preferred

Certification in clinical, Lean, and/or Supply Chain preferred
