~1 min readFive (5) years of relevant hospital coding experience required.
Experience coding in a level 1 trauma facility/academic teaching facility preferred.
Monitors coding accuracy, billing edits/denials; provides feedback and focused education on the monitoring results
Serves as a coding expert for coding staff, physicians, and hospital departments to obtain information or clarification on accurate and ethical coding and documentation standards, guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Monitors unbilled accounts report for un-coded discharges to reduce account receivables for all patient types.
Keeps abreast of ICD/CPT coding changes and reimbursement methodologies impacting coding functions.
Conducts trend analyses to identify patterns and variations in coding and CMI.
Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
