Salary Information

Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade. \r\n**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations** \r\n

Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this classification\r\nexists is to develop, plan and implement recreational programs for the city of\r\nMontgomery.� Job incumbents will also\r\nsupervise volunteers during on-going activities. The work responsibilities of\r\nthis classification are: plans, coordinates and implements daily general\r\nrecreation programs for individuals; assists in the coordination of\r\ntransportation to and from the facilities and out of town trips; coordinates\r\nand supervises the activities of Recreation Aides and volunteers; maintains\r\ndaily and weekly records, reports, forms, equipment, materials and supplies\r\nused for program activity.� The\r\nRecreation Leader I reports to the Recreation Leader II.\r\n

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent and one (1) year of experience in an organized recreational programs.\r\n\r\n\r\nNOTE:\r\nQualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite\r\nknowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.\r\n\r\n

Special Requirements

Must\r\nbe willing to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends. Employment is\r\nconditioned upon applicants acquiring and maintaining a commercial driver's\r\nlicense (CDL) in accordance with the provisions of the Commercial Motor Vehicle\r\nSafety Act of 1986 and providing a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) from the\r\nDepartment of Public Safety as proof of an insurable driving record.� CDL must be obtained within six (6) months of\r\nemployment.\r\n

Kind of Examination

The current vacancy is with the City of Montgomery Parks and Recreation Department. Applicants will be screened and qualified based upon education and experience as shown on the application and supplemental questionnaire.� For this reason, applicants are urged to fill in the application and supplemental question form completely, providing detailed information concerning the kinds of jobs they have held, the dates they held them where and exactly what their duties were. If more than five qualified applications are received, the application will be scored to rank the qualified applicants on the eligible register and tied scores will not be broken.
