Policy Consultant

We're hiring at mid-level – Consultant and Senior Consultant – and we're open to hearing from candidates across that range.

Both roles sit at the driving force of our client work. You'll be a trusted adviser to technology companies navigating complex regulatory and political landscapes across the UK and Europe – helping them understand the environment they operate in and develop credible strategies to shape it. The distinction between the two levels is one of autonomy and authority, as well as experience: Consultants work closely with project leadership to set direction and execute; Senior Consultants operate with greater independence, interrogate briefs more deeply, and are expected to push the quality of our work without being asked.

What both levels share is a particular kind of disposition. When you read out the latest developments in AI regulation, online safety or data privacy, you don’t just absorb it - you think about the implications for the companies who are affected. You think forensically, extrapolate quickly, and make things land with parliamentarians, regulators, and tech leaders alike. We want people who can demonstrate that, not just describe it.

You'll work alongside client team leads to set strategic direction and define priorities for clients navigating complex regulatory and political landscapes. That means translating technical and policy concepts into clear, compelling narratives for different audiences – parliamentarians, civil servants, regulators, media, and the public – and designing integrated plans to guide execution. You'll bring intellectual rigour to every brief, interrogating assumptions and grounding advice in evidence. You'll also go beyond the obvious, suggesting approaches that connect policy positioning to broader communications and stakeholder objectives.

You'll provide recommendations directly to clients – in writing, in meetings, and in high-pressure moments when quick, sound judgement matters. You'll produce compelling briefing materials, submissions, speeches, and content for significant moments. You'll need to read widely, stay across government consultations, regulatory developments, and client challenges, and develop informed perspectives on complex issues. You'll use research and AI tools (e.g. Claude, Factiva, Meltwater) to generate insights and support complex deliverables.

You'll manage junior colleagues day-to-day, set clear expectations, and create the conditions for excellent work. You'll provide regular feedback, support their development, and delegate effectively so that your team performs at its best. Restlessness about finding better ways to work is part of our culture.

You'll give and receive feedback regularly, actively seek input from colleagues at all levels, and demonstrate allyship to everyone on the team. Creating an inclusive environment where brilliant work happens is everyone's responsibility.

You'll bring deep knowledge of technology policy and the appetite to grow into a trusted adviser to some of the sector's most influential organisations.

• Experience working across both UK and EU policy landscapes.

• Existing relationships within technology, policy or regulatory communities.

• Experience working on integrated campaigns designed to shift policy environments or change perceptions.

Salary bands: Consultant £46,000–£54,000 | Senior Consultant £58,000–£69,000
