Advanced Practice Provider - Pediatric Endocrinology

The Pediatric Endocrinology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides ambulatory endocrinology care to pediatric patients under the supervision and collaboration of a physician. Responsibilities include evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of children and adolescents with endocrine disorders. This is a full-time outpatient position.

• Graduation from a Physician Assistant's training program approved by the Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation of the American Medical Association. Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Texas or ability to transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Physician Assistant as evidenced by passing the examinations given by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants. OR
• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a nurse practitioner from an approved certification program recognized by Texas Board of Nursing. Current R.N. license as approved by the Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner from an approved certification program as recognized by Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer certification to Texas.

Experience in Endocrinology.

• →Provides patient services under the supervision and responsibility of a Doctor of Medicine or osteopathy.
• →Develops plans of care with supervising physician, as appropriate, and implements plans in the course of treating patients.
• →Obtains patient health histories; conducts physical examinations, assesses patient complaints, and administers appropriate treatment.
• →Determines need for specialized medical testing for diagnosis or treatment; Orders tests appropriately.
• →Instructs and counsels patients and families regarding a plan of care, problems, and other health care issues.
• →Practices independently managing previously diagnosed and undiagnosed patients.
• →Provides the full spectrum of healthcare services including health prevention, disease prevention, health protection, anticipatory guidance and counseling, and disease management, and palliative care.
• →Use advanced health assessment skills to differentiate between rounds and variations of normal and abnormal findings.
• →Prescribes medication within the scope of practice. Manages the health/illness status of patients and families overtime.
• →Elicits detailed patient histories. 
• →Examines patient, performs a comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.
• →Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in the provision of continuity of care.
• →Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
• →May render emergency medical service without supervision, pending the arrival of a responsible physician, in cases where immediate diagnosis and treatment are necessary to avoid disability or death.
