Social Worker-MSW - Pittsburgh, PA

The University of Pittsburgh Department of Neurology (ADRC) is seeking a qualified Social Worker - MSW. This position will provide research social work support and cognitive/ functional assessments to the NIA-funded University of of Pittsburgh Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center and clinical trials program in the Department of Neurology. The person will conduct psychosocial and/or cognitive assessments and research evaluations of subjects/families/study partners for ADRC programs, participate in consensus conferences and organize family diagnostic meetings as required. Conduct independent global rating evaluations for federal and industry-sponsored drug studies; serve as liaison to research consortia; work with recruitment coordinators to develop a recruitment network; serve as a resource to research participants/families/study partners and health professionals and trainees. Participate in research participant /family support groups and assist with community outreach programs. Provide education on ADRC brain donation program and assist with coordination of cases as needed. Provide mentorship and training to social work students and trainees. Education: Master’s degree in Social Work or comparable Master’s degree.

Job Summary
Performs psychosocial and neuropsychological assessments of patients and families as well as project-directed qualitative interviews; presents assessment findings. Provides referrals for patients, screens individuals for research registry eligibility, develops research project materials, and provides crisis intervention counseling. Serves as a resource and assists in obtaining research grants and funding.

Essential Functions 
Conduct psychosocial assessments of participants and their families/ study partners and /or cognitive/ functional assessments and complete standardized assessment forms (including the UDS required by NIA) for use in clinical research analyses. Conduct independent global assessments for federal and industry-sponsored clinical drug trials. Conduct behavioral assessments and telephone interviews for ADRC projects. Participate and present assessment findings at consensus conference and study recruitment meetings.onduct screening procedures for eligibility into research registry and clinical trials program. Perform on-line assessment form data entry (eCRFs). Serve as a resource to research participants /study partners and health professionals and trainees. Develop project materials for participant /study partners. Provide referral information upon request.

Provide education on ADRC brain donation program and assist with coordination of cases as needed. Work with recruitment coordinators from various programs to develop a recruitment network. Participate in ADRC support groups, lead discussions as needed. Participate in community outreach programs and provide resource materials at health fairs and other aging wellness programs.
