This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Research Technician needed in support of a wildlife research project through the Michigan Fish and Wildlife Cooperative Research Unit at Michigan State University. Research technicians will be supervised by Dr Brett DeGregorio and Dr. Steven Gray.

The Research Technician will primarily be responsible for organizing, manipulating, managing, and visualizing data from field research evaluating the response of wildlife to solar energy development. Technician will use R software and GIS to visualize data and run analyses. Results will be disseminated in reports and a manuscript. Technician will need to be familiar with field survey methods for avian species and renewable energy infrastructure. Technician must be able to translate field-collected data on vegetation and wildlife distribution into maps, graphs, and text.

Technicians must have a familiarity with renewable energy development and avian ecology.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Experience working in and around solar development.
  2. Experience collecting and analyzing avian data.
  3. Experience with R and GIS software.
