Senior Accountant

Nanushka is looking for a talented Senior Accountant to join our team in Budapest.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Own the end-to-end month-end and year-end close process across multiple legal entities (HU, NL, US), ensuring completeness, accuracy and timeliness
• Manage and oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including vendor ledger maintenance and reconciliation of aged items
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany accounts and bank reconciliations across group entities
• Take ownership of VAT reporting and tax compliance obligations across multiple jurisdictions (Hungary, NL, US), liaising with external tax advisors
• Maintain and develop accurate records in the ERP system (Business Central); identify and resolve posting issues, legacy entries and unmatched items
• Oversee inventory accounting and COGS-related postings; support the Controller in preparing management accounts and financial reporting packages
• Lead audit preparation and act as the primary contact for external auditors; prepare supporting schedules, documentation and responses to audit queries
• Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for audits and internal reviews
• Support cash flow monitoring and reporting; assist the CFO with financial analysis, scenario modelling and ad hoc reporting as required
• Collaborate with finance, operations, legal counsel and external advisors (tax, audit, payroll) across multiple jurisdictions; mentor and review the work of junior team members

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, ideally in a multi-entity or international environment; fashion, retail or consumer goods background is a plus
• Strong Excel skills (advanced formulas, pivot tables, financial modelling); experience with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Business Central
• Solid understanding of accounting principles (IFRS or local GAAP); experience with multi-currency and intercompany accounting
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with high attention to detail
• Experience with VAT reporting and tax compliance; familiarity with Hungarian tax regulations is required
• Fluent English (written and spoken) is required. Strong communication skills and ability to work with non-finance stakeholders
