Miner 2 Lead Utilities (East Tennessee Mines)

THE ROLE:
The purpose of this job is to optimize the safe extraction of ore and waste at the Nyrstar Tennessee Mine operation. The Utilities person assists in this by installing and maintaining utilities within all areas of the mine.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILTIES AND DUTIES OF JOB HOLDER

Safety, Health & Environment:

• Promote safe behavior at all times.

• Demonstrate effective performance in achieving agreed EHS goals in
  support of the department, site and company standards. 
• Reporting of all EHS incidents.
• Demonstrate leadership in EHS through personal behaviors and conversations
• Provide clear expectations on performance in EHS through setting objectives and KPIs in EHS for all our employees and contractors.
• Taking an active role to ensure that regulatory obligations and standards are met.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/TASKS:

• Installs pipe for water or air to mine site standards.
• Installs fans, vent tubing and pumps to mine site standards.
• Assists with the installing electrical infrastructure to mine site standards.
• Performs clean-up of areas as needed.
• Identifies the need for utility installation.
• Performs maintenance/rebuilds of air pumps.
• Assists with any other utility or infrastructure needs as delegated through site leadership.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Assist in ensuring the mine development and operational activities are achieved to plan specifications.
• Support the Mine Shift Boss and Superintendent to achieve positive growth and improvement of all work activities and performance standards.
• Able to check ground conditions and to safely apply proper scaling methods, including more advanced techniques.
• Able to pull and suspend de-energized electrical cable.
• Able to mount ventilation fans.
• Able to install compressed air and water piping.
• Able to install and plumb water pumps.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

• Modules: Utilities Installation, Genie Manlifts, Telehandler, UV-6 and Getman A-64 Flatbeds, and John Deere Tractor.
• Sign-off on Lock Out/Tag Out and Manual Scaling.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in mining.
• Yearly Performance review must be Fully Satisfactory or Commendable.
• Progression readiness per current proficiencies.
