As our Head of Accounting, you will lead and scale Nelly’s accounting function as we expand our fintech products and move toward BaFin regulation. You’ll build robust accounting and control structures, develop a strong team, and act as a trusted financial partner to senior leadership — combining deep technical expertise with a hands-on, impact-driven mindset.

Lead and grow our accounting team as we scale our fintech product offering, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, and the professional development of your team members.

Act as a strategic partner to senior management, providing financial insights and recommendations to support business growth and decision-making

Design and implement accounting standards (HGB, RechKredV) critical for our transition to a BaFin-regulated entity, ensuring strict compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Establish and maintain robust Internal Control Systems (ICS) and accounting policies aligned with German (and international) regulatory and banking requirements.

Oversee the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements, ensuring timely and accurate submission.

Manage and coordinate the annual audit process with external auditors, serving as the primary contact point.

Set up and improve accounting processes for our fintech products (e.g., factoring, payment processing and more), ensuring accurate revenue recognition and asset valuation.

Be the go-to expert for internal and external stakeholders like banks, auditors, and authorities (e.g., BaFin, Deutsche Bundesbank) on all accounting and regulatory reporting matters.

5+ years in complex accounting/financial reporting, ideally in financial services (Big 4) or a high-growth fintech, managing intricate financial structures and reporting challenges.

Exceptional analytical and solution-oriented skills – You deeply understand complex financial systems and proactively question the status quo to drive substantial process and reporting improvements in financial operations and controls.

Advanced, expert-level proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Datev) and other financial reporting software, as well as other tools, including Excel and Google Sheets (e.g., advanced functions, pivot tables, data visualization).

Comprehensive Financial Knowledge of relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS/GAAP), complex consolidations, and the design/operation of robust internal controls (ICS).

Fluent German and English skills (both written and verbal) coupled with very good communication skills.

You can effectively articulate complex financial concepts, present analysis results, and collaborate with all relevant stakeholders.
