About the Role
~1 min readAs a Sr. Manager, Accounting & Financial Reporting, you'll lead Accounting and Financial Reporting for New Chapter, Inc. and New Chapter Canada, Inc., ensuring accurate and timely financial information, strong internal controls, effective team leadership, and continuous improvement of accounting processes to support business decisions and sustainable growth.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Provide end-to-end leadership and oversight for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Fixed Assets, including transaction accuracy, reconciliations, controls, issue resolution, and timely period-end reporting.
- →Ensure General Ledger accuracy and on-time execution of A/R and A/P activities.
- →Ensure timely government filings including sales and use tax filings, annual reports and business licenses.
- →Establish, document, and continuously improve accounting procedures, controls, and job aids to enable consistent execution, effective cross-training, and sustainable knowledge transfer.
- →Lead the planning and execution of monthly and annual closes, establishing clear ownership, disciplined timelines, timely reconciliations, effective issue escalation, and continuous improvement of period closing activities.
- →Review and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely distribution, while identifying significant issues, trends, and insights for business leaders.
- →Lead, coach, develop, train, and manage a staff of six, building clear accountability, strong technical capability, effective backup coverage, and a culture of continuous improvement.
- →Build effective cross-functional relationships with business leaders, functional partners, and parent company contacts to resolve issues, improve end-to-end processes, and provide accounting insight that supports business decisions.
- →Actively lead process simplification to create efficiency gains, via effective use of approved AI and related digital tools.
- Lead and energize the team to deliver accurate, timely, and well-controlled accounting and reporting.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and audit processes.
- High degree of proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and Business Central ERP software.
- Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy while working with all levels of employees, customers, and vendors.
- Proficient at time management and able to employ critical thinking in fast-paced environment.
- Highly motivated, positive attitude, and team player.
- Demonstrated ability to assess end-to-end processes, identify root causes and control gaps, evaluate cost-effectiveness, and implement practical improvements that reduce complexity and manual effort.
Requirements
~1 min read- Accounting degree preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience across A/R, A/P, G/L, and Fixed Assets.
- 3+ years experience managing others
This is a hybrid position based in Southern Vermont
What We Offer
~1 min readThe target salary range for this role is $100,000 - $120,000. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. New Chapter considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
