2026-2027 - Athletics - Upper School Track & Field Assistant Coach — Pole Vault & Jumps

Isidore Newman School is seeking an assistant Upper School track and field coach who is passionate about developing high school student-athletes and brings demonstrated expertise in pole vault instruction. Experience coaching high jump is
preferred, and long jump experience is an additional asset.

With pole vault, high jump, and long jump facilities on campus, Newman offers an opportunity to provide consistent, specialized instruction and help student-athletes discover and develop their abilities in these events. Working closely with the head coach and coaching staff, this coach will lead pole vault development and contribute to other jumps events according to their expertise and program needs.

The ideal candidate is knowledgeable about event technique, progressive teaching methods, and event-specific safety practices, including appropriate equipment selection, setup, and supervision. Responsibilities include planning and leading technical practices, preparing athletes for competition, providing meet-day coaching, and communicating regularly with the head coach about athlete progress and needs.

We seek a coach who takes pride in teaching sound fundamentals while developing confident, disciplined student-athletes who are dedicated to their teammates, program, and school. This individual must be aligned with Newman's mission and committed to building strong relationships with student-athletes, coaches, and parents while maintaining high expectations for effort, accountability, sportsmanship, and academic responsibility.

Candidates should demonstrate successful pole vault coaching experience, effective communication skills, and the ability to teach athletes of varying experience levels.

Dependable attendance at scheduled practices, meets, and staff planning meetings is essential.

This is a seasonal, part-time position anticipated to begin in early January 2027, with final employment dates determined by the school's track and field schedule.
