Business Analyst - AI

Join our team as a Business Analyst - AI and play a pivotal role in helping shape how NZTE uses AI to improve the way we work and deliver impact.

This is a full-time fixed-term role until 9th October 2027 and can be based in either Auckland or Wellington.

As our Business Analyst - AI, you will play a pivotal role in identifying opportunities to apply AI in practical ways that improve efficiency, effectiveness, and business outcomes. Working closely with the Technical Product Manager for AI, you will support ideation, assess proof-of-concepts, and help build compelling business cases for investment. 

You will work across different business units to review workflows, identify opportunities for improvement, and assess where AI tools can enhance roles, processes, and customer outcomes. You will also collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to explore use cases and support implementation planning. Hands-on exposure to AI-enabled solutions, automation, copilots, or AI agents in a business context will be highly valuable. 

Your role will be the bridge between stakeholders, delivery teams, and vendors by facilitating communication, translating technical concepts into clear business language, and supporting smooth end-to-end delivery. Your work will span discovery, analysis, documentation, and implementation, with a strong focus on utilising AI capabilities, including Microsoft 365 Copilot.

As a Business Analyst - AI, you will be highly analytical, proactive, and confident working in a fast-evolving environment. As a natural collaborator, you will build strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, capture quality requirements, and help shape meaningful improvements. With a curious mind, you will be someone who can join the dots, ask great questions, and use a range of analysis skills and tools to identify opportunities to improve our digital systems and business processes. You will be a problem-solver who is genuinely motivated to deliver great outcomes for our people and customers.

You will be a confident facilitator who can translate complex ideas into clear, actionable insights for different audiences. You will work cross-functionally, build credibility quickly, and operate with a high level of ownership to remove ambiguity and drive progress.

You have solid experience in business analysis, with a knack for identifying risks, dependencies, and opportunities. Experience working on AI, automation, digital transformation, or technology-enabled business improvement initiatives would be highly desirable, along with familiarity with the Microsoft technology stack.

You understand business processes and customer needs, and you are passionate about continuous improvement.

You can model workflows, assess use cases, build business cases, and support decision-making with clarity and precision.
