- Position: Ophthalmic Technician
- Location: Skokie Hospital
- Full Time/Part Time: Full Time (40 hours per week)
- Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM
- Required Travel: This role includes some travel to other locations and requires flexible hours to meet operational needs
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Performing preliminary eye examinations and assessments, including measuring visual acuity, intraocular pressure, pupil reactions, and visual field testing.
- →Obtaining detailed patient medical history, including eye-related complaints, medications, and relevant health information.
- →Administering specialized ophthalmic tests and procedures such as tonometry, keratometry, optical coherence tomography (OCT), fundus photography, and pachymetry.
- →Assisting ophthalmologists during eye examinations, surgeries, and laser treatments, ensuring patients are comfortable and well-informed about the procedure.
- →Educating patients on eye care procedures, pre-operative and post-operative instructions, and the proper use and care of contact lenses or eyeglasses.
- →Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting assessments, test results, and treatment plans in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory guidelines.
- →Performing routine maintenance on ophthalmic equipment and ensure they are in proper working order.
- →Assisting in the sterilization and preparation of surgical instruments and equipment for eye surgeries.
- →Collaborating effectively with ophthalmologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive eye care services.
