About the Role
~1 min readThe Associate Athletic Director for Academic Services provides strategic leadership and administrative oversight for the academic support services provided to Oklahoma State University student-athletes. The position is responsible for the daily operation and long-term direction of Academic Services for Student-Athletes office (ASSA), including supervision and development of professional and student staff, academic advising and monitoring, student-athlete academic support programming, academic reporting, eligibility collaboration, and coordination with campus academic units and the Office of Student Success.
The Associate Athletic Director works closely with Athletics senior leadership, coaches, the Athletics Compliance Office, the Office of the Registrar, the Faculty Athletics Representative, college academic units, and other campus partners to promote student-athlete academic achievement, retention, graduation, and overall academic success. The position is expected to maintain the highest standards of academic integrity and ensure that academic support operations are conducted in accordance with University, Big 12 Conference, and NCAA rules and policies.
Requirements

- Progressively responsible professional experience in academic advising, student services, academic support, higher education administration, intercollegiate athletics, or a closely related area.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional writing skills, attention to detail, and ability to work with various personality types.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work in a collaborative environment, and a high level of professionalism in all situations.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps required.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential student information and exercise sound professional judgment.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, coaches, faculty, administrators, and other University constituencies.
- Significant experience providing academic support to NCAA Division I student-athletes.
- Experience supervising academic advisors, learning specialists, tutors, or other student-support professionals.
- Working knowledge of NCAA Division I academic eligibility, progress-toward-degree, APR, and GSR requirements.
- Experience working with student information systems, degree-audit systems, academic reporting platforms, or comparable technology.
- Demonstrated experience developing academic support policies, assessing student-success programs, and using data to identify academic trends and manage academic risk.
- The successful candidate should demonstrate strong leadership and personnel-management skills; the ability to manage multiple priorities and complex student matters; commitment to developing and cross training staff to perform a varsity of tasks within the
ASSA unit; extensive knowledge of academic advising and student development; excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities; a commitment to academic integrity and student-athlete development; and the ability to establish productive working relationships across both Athletics and the broader University community. - The position requires the ability to communicate effectively with student-athletes from diverse academic backgrounds, coaches, faculty, senior administrators, and external constituencies while maintaining appropriate confidentiality and professional boundaries.
