About the Role
~1 min readThe College of Arts and Sciences at Oklahoma State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position within Prof. Sangita Sinha’s laboratory in the Microbiology and Molecular Genetics Department. This is a full-time, 12-month appointment with the possibility of renewal based on performance, funding availability, and college needs. The position is available immediately and will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in protein structure and function characterization and be experienced in using a diverse range of biochemical, structural and molecular biology techniques to characterize proteins and protein interactions. The current focus of the Sinha lab is to develop a structure-based understanding of how cellular autophagy is regulated, and how autophagy is dysregulated in infectious diseases, cancers, neurodegenerative diseases, and cardiac myopathies. The candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute to new collaborative structural biology research projects. The candidate is also expected to assist the PI in writing research proposals and provide mentorship to undergraduate and graduate students. The position offers opportunities for independent research development, manuscript preparation, and grant writing.
Responsibilities

- →Publish scholarly work in peer-reviewed journals or other appropriate outlets.
- →Participate in group meetings, departmental seminars and present research at national and international conferences.
- →Assist in mentoring and training graduate and undergraduate students.
- →Contribute to the development of grant proposals and new research directions.
- →Participate in professional development opportunities offered by the College.

Requirements
~1 min read- Ph.D. M.D. or equivalent or terminal degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or a closely related field, with emphasis in protein biochemistry and structural biology (awarded by time of appointment).
- Demonstrated experience in creation of protein expression vectors and the purification and the biochemical characterization of proteins and protein complexes.
- Evidence of research productivity appropriate to career stage.
- Prior experience in structure determination (CryoEM, X-ray crystallography, or NMR spectroscopy) of macromolecules and their assemblies.
- Experience developing and reproducibly performing cellular assays.
- Evidence of strong communication and mentoring skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and scientific communication skills.
- A commitment to rigorous, ethical, and reproducible research practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to a collaborative academic community.
- Demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary research.
- Interest in contributing to broader impacts, community engagement, or public scholarship.
