Job Description:

Bring your customer service skills to the Ontario DMV as a transportation services representative. In this role, you will assist the public with obtaining a driver license, registering vehicles and issuing permits and license plates. In addition, you will administer knowledge and vision tests to potential drivers, ensure correct fees are collected, provide information about regulations and policies and administer behind-the-wheel drive tests. The majority of the work performed by the person in this position will be performed in the Eastern Oregon Border Economic Region. 

• If you are a current Malheur County resident, you will receive 5% preference for this recruitment unless you opt out of receiving the preference. 
  • A resident applicant who received preference and accepted the position must maintain residency in Malheur County for at least five consecutive years following the hire date.

• Help the public register vehicles and apply for permits.
• Provide exceptional customer service while following privacy laws.
• Communicate clearly with customers from diverse backgrounds to accurately answer complex questions in a way that is easily understood.
• Produce photo licenses, instruction permits and identification cards.
• Administer, correct and explain driver license tests.
• Conduct and interpret results of driver vision tests.
• Perform physical examinations of vehicles and verify vehicle identification numbers.
• Prepare daily bank deposits and account for sensitive inventory.
• Occasionally perform relief work in other DMV offices within the region.
• May require standing for extended periods of time, working in inclement weather, working an irregular schedule and lifting up to 40 pounds.   
• Must be able to type at least 30 words per minute with a high level of accuracy.

Two years of public contact/customer service experience which involved dealing with the public in person or by phone providing information about services/programs or explaining and/or applying rules, regulations and procedures;
