  • Own the annual budget and forecasting process from start to finish, partnering with department leaders and physician shareholders; analyze variances from budgets on a regular basis, identify root causes, and recommend corrective action to the CFO

  • Monitor cash flow and collaborate with the CFO to ensure that cash resources are adequate to meet entity obligations and to plan for future investments

  • Prepare distribution calculations for the practice and related-entity holding companies, including verifying formulas, expenses and related items

  • Review and negotiate contracts and leases (e.g., vendor, equipment, and real estate), ensuring favorable terms and proper accounting treatment

  • Handle both routine and complex matters with outside advisors, lenders, and insurance brokers

  • Develop and enforce internal controls, including segregation of duties, to protect company assets and ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and workflows

  • Own and regularly update written accounting policies and procedures, ensuring consistency across all accounting functions and compliance with current standards

  • Drive continuous process improvement by streamlining and automating workflows to shorten the close cycle and reduce manual effort

  • Enhance accounting department use of existing software and other available technologies, including leading implementation of new software (as needed) and training of key employees

  • Plan and manage cross-functional projects from start to finish (scope, timeline, and deliverables), taking full ownership of results

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Knowledge of financial system programs and applications; experience with Sage Intacct strongly preferred

  • Knowledge of healthcare accounting, finance, and the revenue cycle, and their impact on the practice’s bottom line, distributable income, and other relevant metrics and KPIs

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; advanced Excel proficiency (financial modeling, pivot tables, lookups) is a must

  • Skill in identifying and resolving accounting and financial issues through critical thinking and sound judgment

  • Skill in training a variety of users on finance and accounting processes and programs

  • Skill in project management, financial modeling, and contract review and negotiation

  • Skill in effective written and verbal communication, including presenting financial information to non-financial audiences

  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with co-workers, management, and physician shareholders to achieve objectives

  • Ability to give, receive, and analyze information; formulate work plans; and prepare written materials
