OTI Lumionics is developing advanced materials—by design—using quantum simulations, machine learning and real-world testing in pilot production. We are currently focused on key enabling materials for OLED displays that will be used in next-generation consumer electronics and automotive. Our advanced electrode materials, and associated manufacturing technology, are being used to build transparent displays and lighting. We work closely with our partners and customers to design new materials that are mass-production ready. Using our computational Materials Discovery Platform, we are able to rapidly iterate new materials, allowing fast turn around time to meet our customers’ needs.

OTI Lumionics is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Chemical Operator to support critical materials quality, inspection, and compliance functions within our operations. This role is central to ensuring that all incoming and outgoing materials, particularly hazardous chemical supplies, meet strict quality, safety, and documentation standards before entering or leaving production.
The ideal candidate is quality-driven, methodical, and comfortable working with regulated materials in a controlled environment. The role combines hands-on material handling with a strong emphasis on verification, inspection, traceability, and safe chemical management. This position operates with minimal supervision and requires strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental requirements.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Executing material receiving, inspection, and release processes to ensure accuracy, traceability, and compliance with internal quality standards.
- Performing quality verification activities, including sampling of hazardous chemicals and confirmation of documentation, labeling, and specifications.
- Ensuring all materials are properly identified, cataloged, and documented within inventory and quality systems.
- Identifying, investigating, and communicating discrepancies related to material condition, quantity, or documentation, working closely with production, laboratory, and logistics teams to resolve issues.
- Safely managing, handling, and storing highly hazardous chemicals in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Working comfortably in full-body personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, lab coats, and hearing protection, for extended periods as required by safety protocols.
- Supporting controlled material movement such as loading, unloading, staging, and internal transport with an emphasis on damage prevention, contamination control, and procedural compliance.
- Operating forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, and other equipment as required, in accordance with training and safety standards.
- Maintaining accurate, high-integrity records through precise data entry and verification checks.
- Ensuring compliance with environmental policies, procedures, and objectives, and actively participating in the identification and reduction of environmental impacts related to the role
- Adhering to health and safety protocols, reporting hazards, and contributing to the maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment for all employees
- Supporting additional operational or quality-related duties as assigned to ensure overall facility effectiveness.
- Performing other ad hoc duties as assigned
- Diploma in Chemistry or related science degree (candidates with previous relevant chemical or pharmaceutical industry experience will be given preference).
- Ability to frequently lift and maneuver products weighing up to 30 kg (occasionally more).
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a warehouse and/or production environment.
- Willingness to wear all required PPE (hard hat, safety eyewear, steel-toed boots, respirator, etc.).
- Ability to operate or willingness to learn to operate a forklift and/or other material handling equipment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and relevant data processing programs.
- Knowledge and understanding of GMP/GLP or ISO standards is an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to learn quickly, demonstrate flexibility, take initiative, and maintain a positive, can-do attitude.
- Willingness to work extended hours as required.
- Ability to work all shifts, including morning and evening shifts, weekends, and holidays.
