The Commercial Underwriter plays a key role in supporting the Bank's lending and risk management objectives by analyzing credit opportunities, identifying risks, and helping business clients gain access to capital. This position partners closely with Relationship Managers, clients, and senior leadership to evaluate loan requests, structure credit solutions, and ensure sound underwriting practices consistent with Bank policy and regulatory guidelines.
The role offers exposure to a broad range of commercial lending activities, including underwriting, portfolio management, client interactions, credit administration, and process improvement initiatives. Primary Responsibilities
• Evaluate commercial credit opportunities and develop sound, risk-based lending recommendations.
• Analyze financial statements, cash flow, collateral, guarantor support, and industry conditions to assess repayment capacity and credit risk.
• Identify key risks, mitigating factors, policy exceptions, and structural considerations.
• Prepare credit approval memorandums, annual reviews, renewals, and other credit presentations in accordance with Bank policy.
• Monitor portfolio relationships and identify emerging risks, adverse trends, and covenant compliance concerns.
• Partner with Relationship Managers and clients to understand business operations, financing needs, and credit opportunities.
• Participate in client meetings and contribute to structuring appropriate credit solutions.
• Support process improvement initiatives that enhance underwriting quality, consistency, and efficiency.
• Serve as a resource to junior analysts and support their professional development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
• Experience utilizing AI tools to enhance efficiency, analysis, research, and communication preferred.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or economics required.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in commercial loan underwriting is required.
• Formal Credit Lending training required.
*This position will comply with all BSA compliance laws and regulations including the Bank’s BSA policy and procedures.
