The Project Engineer (PE) is responsible for managing and coordinating all engineering support requirements for forestry field activities including preparing and analyzing technical requests for multi disciplined projects (especially civil and building works), cost and contract management, construction works supervision, field base and plantation facilities management, land access, and preparing scopes of work and business case justifications. The PE will assist in providing support to silviculture, and engineering design (including access, plantation road, bunding and drainage requirements). The PE will champion the active management of cost and cost optimization across the company’s facilities. Duties and Key Responsibilities General • Preparing scopes of work, overseeing procurement and management of civil and facilities contracts, design & implementation • Preparing, monitoring, and management of budgets for manpower, contracts, and works within the area of responsibility • Collaborate with other business areas to ensure effective utilization of resources to meet operational goals • Communication and enforcement of safety, environmental, business improvement initiatives, company policies, and health and safety standards • Contributing to the development and implementation of company systems, policies, and procedures • Championing the active management of cost and cost optimisation across the company’s activities Design & Development • Outline proposals for access, roading and drainage requirements • Issue and review technical requirements for construction proposals • Development of facilities, site offices, working and living areas • Ensuring compliance with Statutory regulations and legislation, including building permitting Construction • Prepare and maintain development and construction programs to ensure timely project delivery • Procure construction services • Manage and support implementation contractor(s) • Facilities management of field bases, including provision of power, water, and operational requirements • Oversee utilization of field offices and support Other • Knowledge of Forestry processes • Knowledge of basic mechanical, electrical and IT systems • Support the Silviculture team in managing property, facilities, and access required at plantations, the Nursery, and remote field bases. • Project management • Ensure facilities are compliant and cost-effective • Plan, coordinate, manage and deliver regular periodic management reports • Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring and direction to team including communicating business expectations derived from the Management System, Code of Conduct, Disciplined Operating Model, Company Values and the Company Corporate Governance and Safety requirements • Other tasks and responsibilities as agreed with Operations Manager Requirements Experience and Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or equivalent Minimum 5 - 10 years of experience working in project management or civils, buildings, and operational facilities. Significant prior experience in equivalent role with similar responsibilities working as part of a multi-disciplined team. Demonstrated practical experience in project management of civils, buildings, and operational facilities. Detailed knowledge of PNG building and engineering legislation, regulations, and laws. Proven track record of building strong, trusting relationships with contractors, colleagues and external stakeholders and achieving outstanding results. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools with the ability to compile professional reports and presentations. Driver's License.
