Job Title: STEM Teacher FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports to: Director Terms of Employment: 10 Months
The Middle School STEM Teacher is responsible for creating an engaging, student-centered learning environment that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and innovation through Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics instruction. The teacher will design and deliver standards-aligned lessons that prepare students for academic success and future careers in STEM-related fields while supporting the social and emotional development of middle school learners.
STEM Teacher Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging STEM instruction aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study
- Integrate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics concepts into project-based and inquiry-based learning experiences.
- Attend to individual student needs while fostering a classroom culture that encourages creativity, communication, and critical thinking.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Monitor student growth to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
- Providing regular feedback to students.
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school events as required.
STEM Teacher Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, STEM-related field, or a closely related discipline.
- Valid North Carolina teaching license
- Experience teaching middle school students preferred.
- Knowledge of STEM instructional strategies, project-based learning, and educational technology tools.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration abilities.
