School Enrichment Facilitator

Schools across Uganda are looking to enhance the student learning experience beyond the country’s standard curriculum, and you can lend a hand!

Uganda’s Ministry of Education and Sports has an integrated approach to English education that emphasizes childhood education and care as a strategic entry point for addressing broader community needs that ultimately impact children’s learning and well-being—a priority given that more than half the population is under the age of 18. Schools are interested in implementing initiatives that promote school health and nutrition, environmental sustainability, psychosocial support, and access to clean water and sanitation.

As a School Enrichment Facilitator, you will collaborate with school staff, parents, and community members to support the engagement and development of students ages 7 to 18. Alongside your colleagues, you will design sustainable projects that enhance both educational outcomes and community resilience.

Qualified candidates will have one or more of the following criteria:

• Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science degree in any field
OR
• 5 years' professional work experience

Volunteers in Uganda live in urban, semi-urban, and rural areas, including villages, towns, school campuses, and clinic compounds.

Gain valuable experience bridging school learning with the larger community.
Learn a variety of local languages, such as Luganda, Ateso, Lango, and Lusoga from skilled Language and Cross-Culture Facilitators.
Become a valued part of your host family and the community.

Support English and literacy development through classroom activities, school-wide events, and clubs.
Integrate hygiene, nutrition, and mental wellness education into school activities.
Create and support small student-led entrepreneurial activities.
Facilitate games, sports, and creative arts.
Engage families and organizations for optimal student academic success.
Organize enrichment workshops for both teachers and students.
You may also work on additional projects that meet the community’s interests and priorities, such as tree planting, school gardens, and ICT training.

As a School Enrichment Facilitator, you will be introduced to Uganda’s curriculum, educational challenges, and engaging classroom methodologies.

After 10 weeks of training, you will move to a rural community where you will support the local teachers and staff to enhance learning through activities in and out of the classroom.
