Youth Development Facilitator

Calling all passionate youth advocates and community builders! Youth organizations across Armenia are seeking your support to equip young people with essential life skills to succeed.

Armenia is a country rich in history and resilience, yet its youth face significant challenges. Following the collapse of the Soviet Union, Armenia has undergone major political, social, and economic transitions. While these changes have created opportunities, many young people, especially outside the capital, lack access to career guidance, life skills, civic education, and engagement. Recent displacement of over 100,000 individuals from Artsakh has further increased the need for programs that foster social cohesion.

As a Youth Development Facilitator, you’ll work directly with the local youth and youth workers to lead clubs, camps, and life-skills sessions that inspire confidence and leadership. Your support will help young people to develop job-readiness skills and civic awareness, while strengthening youth programming provided by local organizations. Your efforts will enable the youth to become active, productive members of society and drive positive change in their communities. By building these skills, you’ll contribute to Armenia’s long-term stability and growth.

SPECIAL NOTICE ABOUT CITIZENSHIP: Candidates who are dual citizens of Armenia and the United States, who were born in Armenia, or whose parent(s) is/are Armenian citizens may be regarded as Armenian citizens under Armenian law. Individuals who meet any of these criteria may have legal responsibilities and obligations as Armenian citizens while in Armenia. These circumstances limit Peace Corps’ ability to provide support or intervene in legal or emergency situations. If you fall into any of these categories, we encourage you to consider assignments in other Peace Corps countries.

Bachelor's degree in any field.

Volunteer sites are located in all the regions of Armenia. Volunteers will live with a host family during training and at least the first three months at site. Housing ranges from rural, multigenerational homes to urban, walk-up apartments. Winters are long and cold; travel by shared taxis and minibuses can be lengthy due to mountain roads.

Develop expertise in youth empowerment and job-readiness programming while fostering leadership and community engagement skills.
Drive positive change by creating innovative programs that prepare displaced and underserved youth to thrive socially and economically.
Learn Armenian and immerse yourself in a rich cultural heritage while building strong community connections.

Plan and facilitate youth camps to support the development of life skills and employability skills.
Support youth recreational activities that promote life skills.
Facilitate youth participation in activities, events, and service-learning projects.
Train youth service providers on the implementation of positive youth development program activities.

You may also work on additional projects that meet the community’s interests and priorities, such as supporting sports events or facilitating a career fair.

As a Youth Development Facilitator, you will be trained to support youth in life-skills and employability development, civic leadership, and engagement. Peace Corps/Armenia will teach you Armenian to help you comfortably live in and connect with the community. You will also receive language resources and may learn regional dialects.

After 11 weeks of training, you will move to a rural or urban community where you will collaborate with youth organizations and/or high schools. You will work with the community to assess local needs and develop solutions to support youth in developing strong leadership and life skills.
