Utility Designer

We are hiring for an experienced CAD Technician to join our team on a full-time, direct basis as a Utility Designer at our office in Columbia, MD.  This person will be expected to contribute primarily to our utility projects by performing critical design & drafting functions; this involves supporting major clients such as BGE and Verizon!

• →Perform design / CAD drafting work to assist with Engineering projects.
• →Assist with obtaining relevant field data & measurements.
• →Utilize relevant data when creating / adjusting workable construction blueprints.
• →Ensure scheduling and productivity objectives are achieved.
• →Perform field work on an as-needed basis; this person will be expected to work indoors as well as outdoors.
• →Additional duties may be assigned, as needed.

• High School Diploma (or equivalent).
• 3+ years of professional experience working with Design and/or Drafting.

• Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering, Design Technology, or a related technical field of study is a plus (recent graduates are encouraged to apply)!
• Experience working on dry utility projects (e.g.:  electrical power distribution, etc.)
• Proficiency with engineering / CADD tools, especially AutoCAD; experience with Bentley MicroStation is a plus (but we are willing to train individuals who are willing to learn)!
• Proficiency on standard Microsoft Office software applications.
• Proven ability to utilize technical mathematics.
• Proven ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
• Proven ability to work in a self-motivated manner while effectively multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple assignments.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal & written); proven active-listening skills is a plus!

TARGET PAY RANGE:  $23 - $30 (per hour).

This person may be expected to work in the field, as-needed, so they will be required to possess a Valid Driver’s License and Reliable Transportation.  Additionally, this role will require passing a Background Check and Drug Test without issue.
