The TAS team supports private equity sponsors, lenders and corporates with financial, tax and operational diligence across Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and corporate actions. The Director, Financial Services role at Portage Point represents a unique opportunity to assume a wide range of responsibilities and make a significant impact. This Director is the go-to advisor on Financial Services transactions, responsible for delivering specialized expertise in insurance, wealth & asset management, banking & capital markets M&A diligence, with the ability to specialize within certain FIG subsectors as desired/per specific expertise. The Director will report directly to the TAS Practice Line Leader and manage quality of earnings, advise sponsors on valuation and risk matters and support financial services business development. This person will support key initiatives, manage discrete workstreams and work closely with senior leaders.   • Partner directly with senior Portage Point leaders and clients to develop comprehensive solutions to complex transactional challenges within the financial institutions sector
  • Facilitating client discussions and developing relationships through best-in-class execution with bank sponsors, private equity firms and lenders
  • Leveraging industry-specific expertise and applying FIG-appropriate valuation frameworks to assess the operations of a wide array of businesses within the financial services industry
  • Executing buy-side and sell-side diligence including but not limited to quality of earnings analysis, portfolio/revenue/margin assessment, credit risk evaluation, regulatory compliance review, working capital and net debt consideration analysis
  • Drafting clear and compelling reports outlining key takeaways including but not limited to normalized earnings, budget achievability, indebtedness and post-transaction considerations
  • Review financial services-specific contracts and agreements (e.g., loan and credit agreements, servicing agreements, reinsurance treaties, broker-dealer and custody agreements) to identify deal implications
  • Reviewing transaction agreements, customer, and vendor contracts, and other business specific contracts or agreements
  • Contributing to marketing and FIG business development efforts
  • Supporting practice development initiatives
  • Collaborating closely with performance improvement, restructuring and investment banking colleagues
  • Bachelor’s degree from a top undergraduate program
  • Located in or willing to relocate to Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Nashville, New York, Palm Beach or Philadelphia
  • Invested in a team-based culture, motivated to collaborate in office four days per week and willing to work at client sites as needed
  • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required
  • 8+ years of financial due diligence experience with exposure to financial services or insurance sector transactions, or a combination of audit and financial due diligence experience within a Big 4 accounting firm
  • Deep understanding of US GAAP principles and financial services-specific accounting considerations
  • Proficiency with specialized financial modeling tools
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, including executive-ready presentation and reporting skills
  • Proven ability to thrive in lean, fast-moving teams
  • High attention to detail, responsiveness and ownership mindset
  • Track record of success in high-pressure, client-facing environments
