As the Physician Associate Medical Director (AMD), you will be a senior clinical leader partnering closely with the Chief Medical Officer to ensure excellence, safety, and innovation across PPIL’s medical services. You will provide direct patient care, lead clinical quality initiatives, support workforce development, oversee clinical research, and shape strategic priorities that advance PPIL’s mission.

What You'll Do
Administration & Medical Staff Leadership (30%)
Recruit, supervise, mentor, and evaluate clinically licensed professionals in collaboration with the CMO and Program Directors.
Lead quality improvement and risk management projects, setting measurable outcome goals.
Oversee provider training programs, including curriculum development and competency validation.
Serve as Program Director for Clinical Programs and Research.
Support the growth of service lines such as abortion care, gender‑affirming care, menopause care, sedation, vasectomy, public health initiatives, and limited primary care.
Serve as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
 
Clinical Care & Supervision (40%)
Provide direct patient care, which may include medication abortion, procedural abortion (if credentialed), family planning, gender‑affirming care, and limited primary care.
Participate in on‑call rotation and provide 24‑hour emergency consultation coverage.
Mentor and supervise Residents, NPs, and PAs.
Collaborate on strategic and operational alignment across PPIL’s medical services to ensure high‑quality, sustainable patient care.
 
Education & Research (10%)
Partner with research staff to expand clinical research portfolios and public health impact.
Support training programs for residents, fellows, and advanced practice clinicians.
Ensure regional collaboration supporting cross‑state access and shared care models.
 
Quality, Risk & Protocol Development (10%)
Develop, implement, and monitor clinical protocols aligned with PPFA Medical Standards & Guidelines.
Conduct chart audits and lead corrective action plans.
Lead data‑driven quality improvement initiatives with defined KPIs.
Collaborate with Quality, Compliance, and Finance teams to align regulatory requirements, risk mitigation, and clinical performance with organizational goals.
 
Organizational Leadership & Strategy (10%)
Contribute to long‑term strategic planning for clinical service sustainability.
Represent PPIL in external partnerships and clinical forums.
Support workforce succession planning and leadership development.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the CMO.
 
What You'll Bring
Minimum Qualifications
MD or DO degree (U.S. or internationally trained with ECFMG certification if applicable)Active Illinois medical license with controlled substance authority
DEA registration (Illinois address)
ACLS and BLS certification
Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Obstetrics & Gynecology
Minimum 5 years post‑residency clinical experience preferred
Leadership experience strongly preferred
Ability and willingness to travel across the Chicago area for clinical and supervisory duties
Ability to travel to Central and Southern Illinois at least once every 1–2 months
 
Physical Expectations
Ability to sit, stand, walk, read, hear, speak, and use hands for typing and documentation
Ability to occasionally lift/move up to 25 lbs
