Information is one of the University’s most valuable assets, underpinning teaching, research, engagement and operations. As digital transformation increases the volume, complexity and strategic value of information across the University, strong information governance is essential to ensure these assets are identified, managed, protected and used responsibly.

The Information Governance team provides leadership and expertise across privacy, information management, responsible information sharing and freedom of information. Through effective governance practices, regulatory compliance and trusted advice, the team strengthens trust in how the University collects, manages, protects and shares information, and supports accountable decision-making across the institution.

The Information Governance team sits within the Risk, Information, Safety and Compliance (RISC) directorate, within the UWA Operations Portfolio. RISC plays a critical role in embedding enterprise-wide risk management, strengthening compliance, supporting safe operations and fostering a positive, risk-aware culture across the institution.
