Responsibilities
~1 min readAs an Anaesthetics Obstetric Registrar, you are responsible for providing safe and effective anaesthesia and analgesia to patients in the labour and delivery setting. You assess patients pre-operatively, administer epidural, spinal, or general anaesthesia for labour and caesarean sections, and manage obstetric emergencies such as eclampsia or postpartum haemorrhage under consultant supervision. You monitor maternal and fetal well-being, collaborate closely with obstetricians and midwives, and ensure clear communication during high-pressure situations. Additionally, you contribute to post-operative care, supervise junior staff, and participate in audits, teaching, and quality improvement initiatives.
