We are seeking an experienced Supply Chain Materials Manager to lead material planning, purchasing coordination, inventory management, and supplier performance within a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring materials are available to support production schedules, customer commitments, and complex engineered-to-order projects.
The Materials Manager will lead the Buyer Planner team while partnering with Project Management, Engineering, Sales, Production, Quality, and Supply Chain leadership to improve material availability, optimize inventory, reduce supply risks, and strengthen supplier performance.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Buyer Planner team while managing daily purchasing and planning activities.
- Assign workloads, monitor performance, and support team development through coaching and training.
- Ensure effective use of ERP/MRP systems for purchasing, planning, inventory control, and exception management.
- Support project schedules by aligning material availability with production requirements and delivery commitments.
- Partner with Project Managers to review new projects, identify long-lead materials, and evaluate supply risks.
- Monitor material shortages and lead cross-functional resolution efforts.
- Coordinate with Sales and Operations to provide realistic lead time expectations and demand visibility.
- Support configure-to-order (CTO) and engineered-to-order (ETO) manufacturing programs.
- Provide supply chain input for project planning, scheduling, and customer commitments.
- Manage supplier performance through delivery, quality, responsiveness, and corrective action metrics.
- Lead supplier reviews, improvement initiatives, and escalation activities when needed.
- Support supplier qualification, sourcing strategies, and risk mitigation efforts.
- Manage inventory health, including inventory turns, excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory, safety stock, and working capital.
- Develop strategies to balance material availability with inventory investment.
- Maintain accurate ERP data, including item master information, supplier lead times, BOM data, and planning parameters.
- Identify opportunities to improve planning processes, inventory accuracy, and supply chain efficiency.
- Develop and report supply chain metrics, including material availability, supplier performance, inventory levels, and shortage trends.
- Support Lean initiatives, process improvements, and warehouse optimization efforts.

- Knowledge of UL, ANSI, NEMA, NEC, and IEC standards related to power distribution equipment.
- Experience managing sourcing strategies for electromechanical components such as breakers, transformers, enclosures, bus assemblies, and power electronics.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Experience with vendor-managed inventory (VMI), consignment programs, blanket purchase orders, or supplier stocking agreements.
- Experience managing international suppliers, imports, and customs processes.
