Technical Product Owner - Temenos T24 Core Banking

A leading financial services organisation is seeking an experienced Technical Product Owner to drive the end-to-end technical delivery of their Temenos Core Banking platform across regional markets. Reporting to the Regional Chief Information Officer, this role oversees technical product ownership across T24, Credit, Card & Payments, and ATM/POS integrations. The successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary team and vendor partners to deliver platform configuration, multi-country rollouts, integration architecture, and release management. This position is vital to establishing straight-through processing and ensuring system resilience across international subsidiaries. Working hours are standard full-time corporate hours, Monday to Friday, with flexibility required to support multi-country release schedules and enterprise disaster recovery exercises. Key Responsibilities: Oversee end-to-end technical product ownership for the Temenos T24 core banking platform, including system architecture, configuration, upgrades, and regional deployments. Lead asset management for the core banking capability, holding final authority on target-state architecture versus technical debt decisions aligned with corporate growth. Define, maintain, and execute the technology maturation strategy and roadmap to meet operational and business requirements. Drive platform integration and straight-through processing between the core banking engine and surrounding business systems. Manage consolidated portfolio backlogs, sprint planning, and technical delivery schedules in collaboration with internal engineering teams and third-party vendors. Build, mentor, and direct a high-performing technical team, driving capability development and modern skill acquisition. Ensure application health, operational stability, high availability, performance, data lineage, and compliance across all operating entities. Oversee financial management of the asset portfolio, managing Total Cost of Ownership and delivering commitments within agreed budgets. Direct disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution across all assigned core banking technical assets. Establish risk, governance, and IT Service Management practices to support cloud readiness, componentisation, and automated delivery pipelines. Requirements Advanced Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7 or higher). Minimum of 11 years’ professional experience within complex IT environments. 6 to 7 years of formal leadership or management experience. At least 1 year of experience leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver technical capabilities in a large enterprise environment. Proven background in Temenos T24 core banking architecture, configuration, and multi-country rollouts. Demonstrated expertise in project delivery, IT governance, risk management, and vendor oversight. Strong commercial acumen and financial management experience managing Total Cost of Ownership. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, B.Com Informatics, or Engineering degree. Professional certifications in TOGAF, Leading SAFe, or Project Management (PMI/PMP, PRINCE2).
