Responsibilities

– Own QA readiness end-to-end across all active pods — scope validation, effort estimation, risk identification, environment readiness, and sign-off
– Track testing progress, defect trends, and quality risks; translate signals into clear, actionable status updates for both teams and leadership
– Manage release plans in collaboration with the Release Manager and Product Owners, and maintain accurate risk and decision trackers - →Cross-Functional Collaboration & Delivery
– Coordinate across QA Analysts, Developers, Product Managers, DevOps, and Delivery through Agile ceremonies, 1:1s, and cross-team syncs — aligning priorities, surfacing risks, and removing blockers
– Review sprint and release boards across pods for ticket quality, acceptance criteria completeness, and QA coverage; lead conflict resolution and production issue investigations when they arise
– Use JIRA and Git data to identify patterns, flag systemic quality gaps, and drive structural improvements across pods - →People Management
– Manage workload, hiring, onboarding, and performance across a geographically distributed QA team including contractors sourced through external staffing vendors
– Support QA Leads and Senior QA Analysts in coaching and developing junior team members; set team priorities and provide clear direction during high-pressure periods - →Automation, Tooling & Continuous Improvement
– Oversee Automation QA Engineers across pods — reviewing coverage, removing blockers, and contributing to framework decisions (Playwright strongly preferred) and CI/CD integration
– Bring sufficient automation depth to evaluate the work of automation engineers, challenge coverage decisions, and contribute credibly to framework and tooling discussions
– Lead adoption of AI-assisted QA practices and own tooling evaluation, vendor assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives across the QA function
– Define what effective QA looks like when AI-generated content and non-deterministic outputs are part of what’s being tested - →Operational Availability
– Manage urgent and unplanned requests under pressure; this role requires flexibility to support occasional late-evening deployments as part of the platform’s release cadence
- 5+ years in software QA, with at least 3 years managing teams of 10 or more — including distributed or offshore resources
- Hands-on experience with Playwright and TypeScript, sufficient to lead and evaluate the work of automation engineers, make credible framework decisions, and contribute meaningfully to CI/CD integration
- Working knowledge of SQL, API testing tools (Postman, Swagger), browser DevTools, and CI/CD pipelines - enough to support production incident investigation, evaluate team output, and contribute credibly to technical discussions
- Strong Agile delivery fluency (Scrum and Kanban), release management ownership, and a track record of reducing defect escape rates
- Excellent cross-functional communication — able to translate technical quality signals into business language and coach upward as well as downward
- Background in travel technology, complex platform ecosystems, or multi-pod delivery environments is strongly preferred
- Experience evaluating and adopting AI-powered testing capabilities — and opinions about how to use them well
- Experience with staff augmentation vendors and contractor relationship management
