Job Description:

The future of legal education is built by those who invest in the next generation of leaders, advocates, and changemakers. The Fredric G. Levin College of Law is growing its Advancement team and seeking an Associate Director of Development to help strengthen donor relationships and expand philanthropic support. Working closely with alumni, donors, college leadership, and advancement colleagues, this role cultivates meaningful partnerships, advances major gift opportunities, and helps bring the college's strategic priorities to life. This position focuses on securing and stewarding gifts of $100,000 and above while fostering lifelong connections with the law school community. Responsibilities

  • Build a portfolio of fundraising prospects at the major gift levels ($100,000+) and strategically manage relationships through face-to-face visits to bring gift solicitations to closure.
  • Build and manage a robust relationship portfolio targeting small and mid-level gift donations that support the strategic goals of the College of Law.
  • Maximize travel plans to strategic geographic regions for major gift solicitation/donor engagement.
  • Research, identify, and cultivate individual alumni and friends as prospective donors to the College of Law.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Estate & Gift Planning team to develop and implement a giving strategy for qualified donors at the planned giving level.
  • Qualify prospects by making contact with them, both virtually and in person, to evaluate their readiness to engage with the law school and their interest in making a gift.
  • Set and implement strategies for identification, qualification, relationship-building, and solicitation to close and steward major gifts.
  • Collaborate with team members to create and implement annual fundraising initiatives that support the strategic goals of the law school including end-of-fiscal-year and end-of-calendar-year campaigns and other special fundraising activities created by the College of Law and the UF Foundation.
  • Collaborate with college partners to understand and formulate priorities and opportunities related to individual gifts at the appropriate level.
  • Create gift proposals, concept papers, and other documents used for soliciting restricted and unrestricted contributions to the College of Law.
  • Develop comprehensive understanding of the UF Law mission, strategy, and goals as they relate to fundraising.
  • Acknowledge and recognize gifts in ways that are meaningful to donors and appropriate to the mission, visions, and values of UF Law and UF Advancement.
  • Serve as the liaison to the Law Alumni Council Membership Committee, working directly with alumni committee members as a representative of UF Law.
  • Attend and support alumni events and initiatives, partnering with colleagues to involve alumni when appropriate.
  • Plan and execute select regional alumni engagement events.
  • Support College of Law and UF functions to help steward donors and move prospects through the gift continuum toward closure. Events include, but are not limited to, class reunions, alumni receptions, alumni board meetings, local and state bar conferences and bar exams, and other special occasions.
  • Develop and implement communication and engagement plans to keep prospects connected to the law school and informed about the vision, goals, and values of the College of Law, including its funding priorities and current giving opportunities.
  • Ensure best practices in office systems, files, and record keeping.
  • Ensure effective use of strategic tools and resources, such as contact reports, prospect management, research analysis, and UFF database.
  • Contribute to the planning and monitoring of event and travel budget.
  • Steward gifts by completing thank you cards and other gift recognition with donors and prospects.

Perform related duties as required or deemed appropriate to the accomplishment of the responsibilities and functions related to this position.

Expected Salary:

$65,000-75,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience.

✓One to three years of fundraising, development, sales, or related experience.
✓Prior experience in a university or nonprofit environment.
✓General knowledge and understanding of business/economic environment.
✓Knowledge of fundraising principles, methods, and standards.
✓Demonstrated successful experience in prospect identification, relationship building, solicitation, and stewardship.
✓The ability to work strategically, develop and implement constituency programs and activities, along with a talent for motivating volunteers.
✓Ability to work collaboratively and be a team player.
✓Competency in problem-solving.
✓Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and the capacity to engage effectively and collaboratively with a wide range of individuals are essential.

✓Proficient in the following areas: Windows operating systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access, as well as internet browsers and email platforms. Familiarity with donor databases, contact management systems, and tracking systems is also highly preferred.
✓The ability and willingness to travel.  A valid driver's license and good driving record are essential.*
