Leads enterprise editorial strategy and the creation of flagship publications for the university, overseeing major institutional publications, establishes editorial standards and translates institutional priorities into compelling storytelling
- Develops and leads the university’s enterprise editorial and content strategy aligned with institutional priorities, brand voice and audience needs
- Oversees editorial standards and content quality across university communications, maintaining a unified voice, strong storytelling and adherence to brand guidelines
- Translates strategic initiatives into compelling narratives that support university reputation, engagement and fundraising
- Develops and executes content distribution strategies, repurposing long-form content for print, web, email, audio and social media channels to maximize audience reach and engagement
- Establishes and manages editorial calendars, content planning processes, contributor workflows and production timelines to maintain the timely development and delivery of high-quality content
- Provides editorial vision, planning and oversight for the university magazine
- Leads theme development, story selection and the writing of select magazine content
- Oversees magazine website content and maintains alignment between print and digital storytelling
- Collaborates with design, photography and marketing teams to produce and deliver a high-quality university publication twice per academic year
- Leads editorial development of major university publications including the annual report and strategic plan updates
- Manages projects from concept through publication, including stakeholder engagement, content development and approvals which align with brand, messaging and university priorities
- Manages the university’s editorial standards by developing style standards, implementing editorial processes and workflows and maintaining the quality, accuracy, accessibility, and consistency of content across university publications and platforms
- Manages external design firm and freelance contributors
- Collaborates with other university departments to identify university stories and priorities
- Prepares and monitors departmental budget
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements

- Significant amount of experience working in journalism, reporting, publishing, writing/editing/proofreading or other related experience
