Fractional CFO

We are seeking a highly personable and charismatic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the financial function of an established NPO focused on essential meal distribution in South Africa. This is a critical leadership appointment for an individual who can command both the balance sheet and the boardroom. Approximately 80 hours required in the first month, with hours reducing later. As a key driver of strategy and culture, you will possess a unique blend of rigorous technical financial expertise and an inspiring leadership presence. You will work closely with the executive team during an upcoming leadership transition, taking full ownership of financial control while working alongside the COO, who oversees operational management. Responsibilities: Strategic Financial Leadership: Drive the financial strategy, ensure robust financial controls, and act as a strategic advisor to the executive board and Founder Trustee. Team Leadership: Oversee the finance function, providing direct mentorship and leadership to the current Finance Manager and the broader finance team. Corporate Governance: Maintain institutional knowledge and ensure seamless strategic continuity across all financial operations. Requirements 10+ years of proven experience as a CFO or in a senior financial leadership role. Rigorous technical financial credentials CA(SA). Exceptional leadership presence with the ability to influence at board level. Highly personable, collaborative, and culturally aligned with driving growth and innovation. Experience with Pastel Payroll and Xero accounting software
