Founding CTO (Healthcare Startup)
Quick Summary
Red Cell Partners is an incubation firm building and investing in rapidly scalable technology-led companies that are bringing revolutionary advancements to market in three distinct practice areas: healthcare, cyber, and national security. United by a shared sense of duty and deep belief in the power of innovation, Red Cell is developing powerful tools and solutions to address our Nation’s most pressing problems.
Savoy Life is a technology-enabled healthcare services startup focused on making healthcare work for seniors and their caregivers. We exist because the senior population is exploding, medical spend is already out of control, and poorly coordinated care is wasting tens of billions of dollars every year. At the same time, the two resources we need most to address this problem - caregivers and primary care providers - are stretched thinner than ever.
Savoy aims to make aging better by restoring agency to seniors and integrating caregiving into the heart of healthcare to allow seniors to spend more quality days at home - and fewer days in the hospital. Today, this includes going into individual homes as well as partnering with senior living communities to coordinate and manage clinical gaps for these seniors, their caregivers, and the care ecosystem. Savoy deploys a team of clinical experts both in-person and virtually paired with proprietary technology to drive clinical outcomes – without disrupting the current care.
Responsibilities
~1 min readPartner directly with our CEO and COO to design, architect, and build the technical foundation that powers Savoy Life’s caregiving‑first model. You will own the creation of our data infrastructure, intelligence layer, and early products that unify caregiving and clinical data—enabling risk stratification, clinical decision support, and scalable continuous care. Your work will transform today’s human‑intensive process into a proprietary, tech‑enabled platform that can serve seniors everywhere, not just in senior living facilities.
- Implement and own the technical strategy for AI‑enabled clinical signals, early‑risk detection, sentiment analysis, and proactive care workflows.
- Leverage LLMs to power both conversational, virtual rounding, and structured clinical summaries.
- Use AI‑native tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude, GitHub tools, agents) to accelerate prototyping and development velocity.
- Create our data infrastructure, automated AI/BI driven insights, and BI querying
- Build and scale ETL pipelines that ingest data from QHIN data, HIEs, internal Savoy tools and potentially beyond.
- Ensure data integrity and traceability across a wide variety of structured and unstructured inputs.
- Build Savoy’s platform with HIPAA compliance and senior‑care regulatory needs from day one.
- Implement secure data storage, encryption, auditing, access control, and monitoring frameworks.
- Establish and enforce best practices for uptime, reliability, and operational readiness.
- After building the first versions of our product, you’ll recruit, mentor, and develop engineers as the organization scales.
- Establish engineering culture, SDLC practices, architectural standards, and performance expectations.
- 10+ years of engineering experience with a strong track record of building and shipping complex, high‑impact products.
- Experience designing and scaling backend systems, cloud infrastructure, APIs, and data platforms.
- Comfortable owning technical architecture end‑to‑end in a fast‑moving startup setting.
- Expertise in database design, distributed systems, and event‑driven architectures.
- Hands‑on experience deploying secure, scalable systems on AWS/Azure/GCP.
- Experience with clinical data structures (EHR, care notes, vitals, symptoms), healthcare integration standards (FHIR/HL7), or related domains.
- Understanding of HIPAA, PHI handling, and the nuances of clinical workflows.
- Experience using LLMs to build production features (NLP, summarization, conversational AI, risk prediction, or agent frameworks).
- Comfortable with prompt engineering, model selection, and grounding strategies.
- Deep understanding of secure system design, encryption standards, access control models, auditability, and threat modeling.
- Experience building systems for regulated industries is a strong plus.
- Thrives in ambiguity, moves with urgency, and brings an ownership mentality.
- Excited to build v0 → v1 → scale while wearing multiple hats.
- Motivated by delivering better healthcare outcomes for seniors and their families.
