As Senior Director, People Operations, you will lead and scale the systems, programs, and operational infrastructure that power an exceptional employee experience at Ro. You will oversee the core systems and services foundation of the People function—including HR systems, people analytics, benefits and leave administration, compliance, employee lifecycle operations, and employee services—ensuring they are efficient, scalable, and aligned with business and employee needs.

You’ll partner closely with leaders across People, Finance, IT, Legal, and the broader business, serving as both a strategic and operational thought partner. Reporting to the SVP, People, this role will play a critical role in enabling Ro’s continued growth through scalable systems, data-driven decision making, operational excellence, and a high-quality employee experience. In addition to overseeing the systems and processes that support employees, you will help shape how workforce data and insights are leveraged to improve organizational effectiveness, inform leadership decisions, and guide People strategy.

You will play a key role in shaping the future of People Operations at Ro, building scalable workflows, self-service capabilities, and intelligent systems that enable both employees and the business to operate more effectively.
  • Set the strategy and vision for People Operations, including HR systems, people analytics, workforce insights, benefits administration, compliance, employee lifecycle operations, and employee services
  • Build and evolve People analytics and workforce insights capabilities, developing reporting, dashboards, metrics, and decision-support tools that enable leaders to make informed decisions about talent, organizational effectiveness, and workforce planning
  • Own and optimize People systems and workflows, ensuring scalability, data integrity, operational efficiency, and seamless employee experiences across the lifecycle
  • Build and evolve scalable People processes and service delivery models that improve efficiency, consistency, and employee experience across the organization
  • Improve efficiency, scalability, and employee experience through process improvement, automation, systems optimization, and thoughtful application of AI-enabled tools and workflows
  • Identify opportunities to embed AI and emerging technologies into People Operations workflows to improve efficiency, employee experience, scalability, and quality of service delivery
  • Partner cross-functionally with Finance, IT, Legal, and People teams to support workforce planning, compensation operations, reporting, organizational health metrics, and strategic business initiatives
  • Oversee benefits and leave administration programs, ensuring competitive offerings, operational excellence, and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Ensure strong governance, compliance, and operational controls across People systems, policies, processes, and employee data management practices
  • Lead and modernize employee support operations, including self-service capabilities, knowledge management, service standards, and scalable employee support models
  • Drive operational excellence across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, internal mobility, and offboarding experiences
  • Apply product management and service design principles to employee-facing programs, systems, and operational workflows to continuously improve the employee experience
  • Lead operational transformation initiatives and change management efforts that improve scalability, organizational efficiency, and employee experience across the business
  • 10–15+ years of experience in People Operations, HR Operations, or related functions, including leadership experience in high-growth or complex environments
  • Deep expertise in HR systems, people analytics, workforce reporting, workflow automation, and operational process design
  • Experience scaling People infrastructure, programs, and service delivery in fast-growing, technology-driven organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to apply AI, automation, and emerging technologies to improve operational efficiency and employee experience
  • Strong knowledge of benefits administration, leave management, and multi-state HR compliance
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience translating workforce data and operational metrics into actionable insights, business recommendations, and process improvements
  • Ability to operate effectively at both strategic and tactical levels, balancing long-term initiatives with hands-on operational execution
  • Strong communication and change management skills, with experience driving operational transformation and adoption across organizations
  • Experience supporting or partnering on compensation programs is a plus, but not required

    The target base salary for this position ranges from $201,900 - $263,000, in addition to a competitive equity and benefits package (as applicable). When determining compensation, we analyze and carefully consider several factors, including location, job-related knowledge, skills and experience. These considerations may cause your compensation to vary.

    Ro recognizes the power of in-person collaboration, while supporting the flexibility to work anywhere in the United States. For our Ro’ers in the tri-state (NY) area, you will join us at HQ on Tuesdays and Thursdays. For those outside of the tri-state area, you will be able to join in-person collaborations throughout the year (i.e., during team on-sites).
