Software Engineering Intern, Backend (Summer 2027)

We build and scale the services, infrastructure, and data systems behind brokerage, crypto, payments, and more. As a Software Engineering Intern, Backend, you won't be on the sidelines — you'll own a meaningful project end-to-end, from initial scoping through to production. You'll be embedded on a real team, working directly with experienced engineers, diving deep into how the US financial system actually operates, and shipping software that meets the correctness and scale requirements of a live financial platform. • →Own a high-impact backend project from initial scoping through launch — you'll drive the work, not just support it
• →Partner with a dedicated mentor who will guide you from onboarding through shipping, deepening your understanding of our tech stack and financial domain along the way
• →Design, build, test, and release software solutions that meet the correctness and scalability requirements of a real financial platform
• →Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Robinhood to solve critical problems that span the organization
• →Maintain and scale an existing codebase using technologies such as Python/Django, Go, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Redis, Memcached, AWS, and Kubernetes

• Currently enrolled in a full-time, degree-seeking program with an expected graduation date of Winter 2027 or Spring 2028
• Strong CS fundamentals and deep understanding of best coding practices
• Solid communication skills and an ability to drive large projects forward in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment
• Passion and interest in financial technology and building fintech products and services
• Prior software engineering experience from internships, hackathons, or personal projects
• Familiarity with Python/Django or Go, and an understanding of relational databases and transactions
