Summary

Operate, maintain, and repair all aspects of both the interior and the exterior mechanical, electrical systems and equipment at KeyBank Center, LECOM Harbor Center and 79 Perry St.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as WNYA, LLC Chief Engineer of record and display license per City of Buffalo Charter
  • Schedule, manage, and train full-time and part-time stationary engineers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational problems of the physical plant.
  • Maintenance and repair of all mechanical and electrical systems and equipment.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal codes as well as NHL regulations.
  • Inventory equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain energy efficient operation of the physical plant.
  • Create and promote a safe work environment.
  • Manage preventative maintenance schedules
  • Inform/Coordinate/Communicate with Supervisor as necessary.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all information.
  • Be responsible, punctual, courteous, and respectful.
  • Always maintain a professional attitude and appearance.
  • Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned or as become evident.

Minimum Qualifications for the Position:

  • Technical or vocational electrical school diploma is required. College degree preferred.
  • Valid Chief Stationary Engineer License issued by the City of Buffalo, New York is required.
  • Five (5) years working as a stationary engineer with centrifugal chiller experience are required.
  • Thorough knowledge of the operation, repair and maintenance of low-pressure boilers, pumps, HVAC and other equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and wiring diagrams required.
  • Working knowledge of computerized building automation systems.
  • Ammonia Refrigeration maintenance and operation experience are preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Must be able to use hand tools, power tools, and climb ladders.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • On call 24 / 7.
  • Must be able to continuously stand and walk a minimum of 8 hours.
  • Must be able to bend, kneel, twist, stoop, push and pull over the course of a shift.
  • Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds, and work on catwalks and man lifts at high elevations.
  • Maximum body weight cannot exceed 280 pounds to comply with safety limitations of equipment.
  • Must be able to work outside in all types of weather.

Compensation

This role pays between $42.30 - $50.00 per hour with shift differential on 2nd ($.50/hour) and 3rd ($1.00/hour) shift. Note: Wages will be determined based on factors such as candidate experience, qualifications, skill set and internal equity.
