Assistant Warehouse Supervisor – Full-Time | In-Office | Ann Arbor, MI
 
Are you a hands-on warehouse professional who enjoys leading a team, solving problems, and keeping operations moving? As the Assistant Warehouse Supervisor at Shar Music, you’ll play an important role in supporting the daily operations of our warehouse while helping create an organized, efficient, and positive environment for our team. In this role, you’ll work closely with the Warehouse Supervisor and warehouse leadership to coordinate daily activities, support team members, monitor workflow, and help ensure orders are picked, packed, received, and shipped accurately and on time. This is a hands-on leadership position, and the successful candidate should be comfortable both directing the team and rolling up their sleeves to work alongside them.
 

Responsibilities

  • →Assist the Warehouse Supervisor with the daily direction and coordination of warehouse employees.
  • →Help assign work, prioritize daily tasks, and adjust staffing based on changing business needs and workload.
  • →Serve as a resource for warehouse employees by answering questions, providing guidance, and helping resolve day-to-day issues.
  • →Support onboarding and training of new warehouse employees and reinforce established procedures and expectations.
  • →Help promote a positive, accountable, and team-oriented warehouse culture.
  • →Provide feedback to the Warehouse Supervisor regarding employee performance, attendance, training needs, and operational concerns.
  • →Work alongside the warehouse team to pick, pack, receive, stock, organize, and ship merchandise.
  • →Help ensure customer orders are processed accurately and efficiently.
  • →Monitor workflow throughout the day and identify potential bottlenecks or delays.
  • →Assist with coordinating incoming shipments, inventory movement, and product storage.
  • →Help maintain organized and properly stocked work areas, picking locations, and warehouse supplies.
  • →Assist with cycle counts, inventory accuracy, and investigation of discrepancies.
  • →Handle string instruments, accessories, and other merchandise with appropriate care.
  • →Help ensure warehouse equipment, tools, and workspaces are maintained in a safe and orderly condition.
  • →Work collaboratively with Sales, Customer Success, Production, Solutions, and other departments to support company-wide operational needs.
  • →Help resolve order or fulfillment issues and communicate effectively when priorities change.
  • →Support special projects, large orders, seasonal volume increases, and other business initiatives.
  • →Help ensure customer commitments are met through accurate and timely warehouse execution.
  • →Maintain a customer-first mindset, understanding that the warehouse plays a critical role in the overall customer experience.
  • →Help reinforce warehouse safety procedures and safe work practices.
  • →Identify opportunities to improve workflow, organization, productivity, and efficiency.
  • →Assist the Warehouse Supervisor in implementing process improvements and maintaining consistent operating procedures.
  • →Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional warehouse environment.
  • →Communicate operational concerns, safety issues, and improvement opportunities to warehouse leadership.
  • →Other duties as assigned.

  • Enjoy learning about products and are comfortable becoming knowledgeable about string instruments and related products.

  • Have an interest in music, education, or the arts (a plus).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous warehouse, distribution, logistics, or fulfillment experience required.
  • Previous leadership, lead, trainer, or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced warehouse environment preferred.
  • Proven ability to establish goals, monitor KPIs, and drive team performance.
  • Experience with NetSuite or another ERP system strongly preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Teams, and Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Music knowledge or experience working with musical instruments is a plus.
