About the role
Responsible for performing inventory accounting activities, analyzing inventory-related financial data, and preparing accurate financial reports to support business operations. This position ensures the integrity of inventory balances through reconciliations, valuation analysis, cycle count support, month-end close activities, and compliance with accounting policies and internal controls. The Inventory Accountant partners with cross-functional teams to maintain accurate inventory records, investigate variances, and support financial reporting and operational decision-making.
Responsibilities
Performs various account reconciliations, including inventory-related accounts, to interpret and report the effects of established financial plans.
Prepares, examines, and analyzes accounting records, financial statements, inventory transactions, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
Develops, maintains, and analyzes data to be used in management reporting and inventory-related financial analysis.
Prepares and processes journal entries, as well as establishes and assigns entries to proper accounts in the General Ledger.
Develops, implements, modifies, and documents recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology.
Partners with Merchandising, Finance, and Treasury teams to ensure accurate inventory reporting, support business initiatives, and resolve inventory and financial-related issues.
Knowledge, skills & abilities requirements
Experience in inventory accounting, including reconciliations, inventory valuation, variance analysis, and month-end close activities.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to analyze large data sets and perform complex financial analysis.
Experience with inventory management systems and ERP platforms required.
Oracle EBS preferred.
Experience developing reports and dashboards using Power BI is a plus.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills with the ability to identify process improvements and leverage technology to drive efficiencies.
Ability to partner effectively with Merchandising, Finance, Treasury, and Supply Chain teams in a fast-paced environment.

Working conditions & physical requirements
This will be a hybrid role required to be onsite at the corporate office on specified days. The work environment generally involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, retail stores, and residences or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, and occasionally requires carrying, moving and setting up of computers, for example desktops, monitors, printers, and other small hardware in the testing lab.
