Samsung Next is an investment and corporate development group that champions bold and ambitious founders, focusing on transformative innovations in AI, intelligent machines, healthtech, consumer services, and frontier technologies. We provide early-stage capital, expertise and access to Samsung to accelerate founder success and bring strategic value to Samsung in the form of insights and collaborations. We deploy a unique strategy, making a large number of investments with rapid and independent decision-making. We work globally, in particular with the Samsung headquarters in Suwon, Korea.

The Investor position at Samsung Next provides individuals with an opportunity to establish and/or expand a career as a venture investor with the backing of Samsung, one of the world’s best consumer technology brands. No prior investing experience is required. Individuals learn the fundamentals of investing typically over three years. This role is not targeted for seasoned investors. 

Investors work directly with experienced Managing Directors to develop and augment their venture investment skills and are given as much responsibility as quickly as they can manage. Investors are exposed to a large quantity of deals. With a high degree of independence, they source deals and bring them to closure, partner with portfolio companies post-investment and gain experience with startups at a variety of stages and in a variety of verticals. 

While investors can source deals in any of our focus areas, this role will have a primary focus on consumer services. We invest in technology that enhances and delivers rich consumer experiences, whether reimagining foundational infrastructure like blockchain or mobile, or creating novel applications in media, gaming, and fintech.

This is a hybrid position requiring regular in-office days. Additionally, due to the global nature of our work, weekly and occasional evening and/or early morning meetings are required. Occasional travel will be required as well. 

This is a generalist role: the work will change week to week.

• →Research markets, companies, and technologies, then form a view and defend it
• →Support diligence on investments and partnerships across the US and Asia
• →Help portfolio companies and corporate partners with strategy, introductions, and go-to-market questions
• →Evaluate and implement AI tools and services
• →Take on projects across areas like health, AI services, and strategy as they come up
• →Keep a pulse on what's happening in tech in real time and bring the signal back

• You find leverage. You'd rather find the shortcut than grind through the long way. You automate, reuse, and ask the right person instead of reinventing things.
• You live online. You're active on X (or wherever the conversation is happening), you know who's building what, and you have opinions about it.
• You don't fit the template.. We're more interested in unusual paths: self-taught, career-switchers, builders, writers, people who've taken chances to do projects off the beaten path. 
• You want in. You're hungry to build a career in tech and see this as a launchpad, not a résumé line.

• Undergraduate degree

• Highly successful 3+ years of professional experience
• Adept at developing and leveraging strong professional relationships
• Demonstrated passion and intellectual curiosity about technology and startups
• Ability to learn, absorb, and develop insights about new technologies 
• Thrives at playing many positions in an unstructured environment
• Displays high EQ and is a team oriented contributor
• Demonstrates outstanding analytical and communication skills both written and verbal - able to simplify the complex and provide pointed insights 
• Available to travel regularly
