Under the general direction of the Petroleum Warehouse General Manager or designee, this position will work in the warehouse, pulling, packaging, loading, unloading, and stocking products. In addition, this position transport and delivery packaged petroleum products (cases, pails, drums of motor oils, greases, chemicals and DEF) directly to a customer’s place of business.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Receives packaged petroleum and chemical products.
- Stocks shelves in the warehouse.
- Builds pallets from work orders.
- Loads and unloads trucks as assigned.
- Performs shipping and receiving tasks as well as maintaining accurate counts.
- Operates forklift once certified.
- Ensures accurate entries are completed daily in work logs.
- Performs cleaning cab of the truck.
- Attends when scheduled safety meetings.
- Transports and delivers the products of Sapp Bros Inc., in a professional, safe, efficient, timely, and legal manner.
- Completes successfully 4-6 weeks of the Job Training.
- Conducts pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections of truck and trailer.
- Completes daily log and turns in pay sheets.
- Secures all case products, propane bottles, hoses, and other essential tools required by the job, by using any company-approved securing method, which will include, but is not limited to, the use of wrapped pallets, straps, tie-downs, etc.
- Loads and unloads trailers when required while performing frequent lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying of products, hoses, propane bottles, and applicable tools for the job.
- Completes all necessary paperwork and maintains records required under State and Federal Laws and Regulations.
- Ensures that all operations are in compliance with State and Federal Laws and Regulations, as well as, the policies of Sapp Bros Inc.
- Represents Sapp Bros Inc. to our customers, the public, and the Trucking Industry in a professional manner at all times.
- Assists when assigned, and train new drivers according to required guidelines.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Ability to work in a safe manner at all times.
- Knowledge of petroleum products is a plus.
- Ability to read and accurately fill work orders.
- Must be able to follow directions and procedures as a driver.
- Must be detail-oriented with the ability to work and follow proper policies and procedures.
- Must have basic math skills.
- Knowledge of D.O.T. regulations and requirements as a truck driver.
- Knowledge of basic truck mechanics.
- Must be able to work in a team environment and independently.
- Ability to work in a proficient manner and meet physical demands.
- Knowledge of shipping and receiving.
- Ability to operate power equipment and drive a forklift.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to work in a fast pace environment and meet physical demands.
- Must wear proper PPD such as safety glasses and steal-toe shoes while on duty.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB
- Previous warehouse and inventory experience, preferred.
- Forklift certification is a plus, but will be trained and certified prior to operating a forklift.
- Minimum of 21 years of age.
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL A preferred) or Class B with Tanker. Will help obtain Hazmat.
- Current D.O.T. physical examination card.
- An excellent driving and safety record.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent driving experience, preferred.
- Basic knowledge of lubricants (different brands and weights i.e.), preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Medium to Heavy work, exerting up to 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently. Able to push freight occasionally weighing up to 1,000 pounds on a dolly or cart and exerting greater than 50 to 100 pounds of force with assistance. Exerting 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Able to squat, crouch, and reach, as needed, to handle, secure and deliver our products. Able to handle any special equipment required in the delivery of our products. Able to remain alert while driving for periods of time, up to, 8 hours. Able to enter and exit the cab of the vehicle numerous times daily. Vision acuity must be met under the D.O.T. requirements.
