Assistant Director Student Involvement

As a member of the student involvement team in Atlanta, Ga., you will lead engagement and retention initiatives, including on-ground activities and cultural experiences. You will travel across multiple campuses to facilitate small group engagement, support student organizations, and develop leadership opportunities.

This position is identified as essential personnel in the university's emergency and disaster response plans. In the event of a university closure or evacuation, all essential personnel must report.

To support the office of student involvement, you will:

• Foster strong relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners to strengthen the university experience
• Work with the director of student involvement to design, implement, and assess student activities and assist the events team with large-scale, student-focused events and retention-focused programs
• Keep accurate records of all expenditures; develop programs that align with our annual budgets; and assist the director of student involvement with budget assessments, data collection, and program reports
• Partner with the director of student involvement on major events, including Welcome Weeks, Spooktacular, late-night brunch, quarterly initiatives, and more
• Lead off-quarter orientations, including program planning, cross-departmental coordination, and communication with presenters and partners and direct student trips and travel experiences across multiple locations

As an assistant director, you’ll:

• Proactively identify operational needs, resolve program challenges, and escalate significant concerns or strategic decisions to the director
• Provide primary leadership and daily oversight of student clubs and organizations
• Serve as the main point of contact for university resources for student clubs and organizations
• Address routine operational needs; provide guidance on programs, space reservations, budgets, purchases, and university processes; and manage all club budget allocations to ensure compliance and spending accountability
• Elevate programs to align with the university’s mission and values; advise and train student club leaders and faculty/staff advisers to ensure compliance with policies, safety practices, and location standards; and advise the Inter-Club Council (ICC) on program planning and implementation

You will also:

• Direct all ICC processes, policy implementation, and program development; provide leadership development, training, and guidance to ICC leaders and club advisers; and conduct assessments and evaluations of ICC programs and processes
• Organize and oversee student club fairs, expos, and recruitment events; collaborate with the director of student involvement on student leadership training and initiative development; and serve on student leadership committees to advance student engagement opportunities
• Design and implement assessment-based programs and training that address student needs and support the ongoing development of location-based communities; supervise student employees in accordance with university employment guidelines; oversee student involvement communications, including blog resources and social media account management (Instagram, TikTok, etc.)
• Collaborate with senior student leaders to produce content that promotes events, highlights opportunities for involvement, and fosters a dynamic, inclusive university community
• Coordinate content distribution and scheduling in alignment with the university events calendar while maintaining SCAD brand standards

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• At least two years of experience in student activities within a college or university setting
• Experience in content creation and social media strategy, group facilitation, and in instructional design for personalized learning
• Able to work evenings and weekends
