As a Regulatory Certification Engineer II with Resideo's Global Regulatory Certification Team, you'll play a crucial role in supporting our Life Safety and Security Certification programs. You'll collaborate with key Agency Partners such as UL, Intertek, A2LA, and others, acting as a contributor in various aspects of regulatory certification.

Your responsibilities will include overseeing and conducting certification test activities, developing and enhancing Certification & lab Accreditation programs, supporting improvements of product designs with respect to relevant product safety compliance and certification requirements, and reviewing technical documentation like data sheets, test reports, and CE Safety Declarations of Conformity (DoCs).

You will manage certification projects simultaneously, making it essential to have a strong grasp of industry standards and requirements (UL, ULC, CSA, EN). The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical proficiency in conducting Safety product testing, as well as expertise in drafting and reviewing technical documentation and lab procedures.

  • Partner with team to oversee Certification Agency Data Acceptance Programs (DAP) & Lab Accreditations to ensure compliance with the Lab's Quality Management System, Client Test Data reports, test equipment calibration, and Proficiency Test Programs (PTP).
  • Prepare and verify sample setups for compliance testing at the Agency or under the DAPs Certification and Lab Accreditation programs.
  • Perform in-scope testing on Safety and Security products to applicable agency standards, including but not limited to fire room, smoke & CO, and correlation testing.
  • Devise test plans, verify data collection and analysis, and prepare associated reports for testing & data acceptance submittals.
  • Design, build, and improve in-house test fixtures and test setups to ensure compliance with regulatory certification and Lab accreditation requirements.
  • Ensure LMS document control and compliance with ISO 17025 requirements and process improvements through periodic internal audit activities and coordination of management review meetings.
  • Support all Resideo Engineering teams during the development of Value Engineering, Cost Engineering, and New Product Introduction to ensure compliance criteria are considered during each product development phase.
  • Review and write reports, quotes, and conduct testing for Smoke and CO detectors to the following standards: UL217, UL268, UL1484, S531, UL2034, UL2075, CSA 6.19, and relevant EN standards (EN14604).
  • Independently performing testing and evaluation on various products to the provisions of UL, Canadian, and EMEA product safety standards.
  • Frequent written and verbal communications with Global regulatory agencies, such as UL, CSA, Intertek, CNPP, VDS, etc.

 

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in Safety products testing & certification (Carbon Monoxide, Smoke, Correlation, Fire Room, Audible).
  • Working knowledge in Safety products (Smoke/CO) Regulatory and Agency requirements in all relevant national and international standards, such as UL217, UL268, UL1418, UL2034, UL2075, ULC-S531, CSA 6.19-17 (R2022), EN Standards, etc.
  • Proficient in the performance of risk assessment and the ability to conduct root cause analysis.

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a similar discipline.
  • Proven ability to identify and implement appropriate corrective actions in support of audit and proficiency test program nonconformities.
