SDE 2 - Backend

As a backend engineer, you will take end-to-end ownership of backend systems within your squad, and play a crucial role in designing, building, and scaling Seekho's core services. You will architect high-quality and reliable APIs, improve critical backend components, and ensure our systems remain performant, secure, and maintainable. Seekho is an AI-native engineering org, and AI agents are part of your everyday toolkit — used to move faster on implementation and repetitive work, so you can focus your energy on architecture, correctness, and the judgment calls AI can't make for you.

This is a high-impact individual contributor role, where you are expected to independently lead complex features, drive technical discussions, and elevate engineering quality within the squad. You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, developers, and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

• Lead and deliver complex backend features end-to-end—from understanding requirements to deployment
• Translate business needs into robust, scalable backend solutions
• Design clean, modular, scalable system components
• Refactor and improve critical backend modules to enhance performance, reliability, and maintainability
• Establish and promote engineering best practices within the squad
• Conduct high-quality code reviews, ensuring maintainable and efficient code — including AI-generated code, reviewed with the same rigour as human-written code
• Work closely with PMs, designers, and frontend teams to ensure seamless execution
• Provide technical clarity during planning, assisting in scoping and solution engineering
• Mentor junior engineers through guidance, pairing, and reviews
• Diagnose system bottlenecks, fix large-scale issues, and optimize backend performance
• Ensure security standards and data integrity across backend workflows

• 3 - 5 years of experience building scalable backend systems.

• Strong expertise in Python and backend system development.
• Solid knowledge of system design, distributed systems, and architecture fundamentals
• Experience building and integrating RESTful APIs
• Proficiency with version control tools like Git
• Comfort using AI coding agents (e.g. Claude Code) as part of your daily workflow is a plus

• Strong problem-solving & debugging skills
• High ownership and ability to lead projects independently
• Clear communication and collaboration skills
